On Monday, Shueisha announced the commencement of the JUMP Next Generation Battle Manga Award, a manga contest that will accept one-shots from new artists in order to find the next poster child of Weekly Shōnen Jump. Professionals as well as amateur mangaka are invited to submit any battle-themed manga for a chance at publication and serialization in Shōnen Jump magazine.
This big contest comes at a very interesting time for the magazine as the new gen manga titles that rose to prominence after the end of the Big Three era have closed out their serializations or moved to other publications.
