Two of the most prominent figures in the world of Twitch streaming, Shroud and Sacriel, have teamed up with the UK-based game developer Splash Damage to create a new open-world survival game. A livestream conducted by Shroud on Twitch earlier today provided some more information regarding this collaboration.

Shroud whose real name is Michael Grzesiek is a former professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player turned full-time streamer. Sacriel, whose real name is Chris Ball, is another well-known streamer and content creator, with a focus on tactical shooters such as Escape from Tarkov and Rainbow Six Siege.

The official press release states that the title of this joint endeavor is Project Astrid, and it will be a PC game focused on immersion. The game is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, which is capable of producing stunning graphics. The main thing that sets this title apart from other survival games is the involvement of Shroud and Sacriel. Both are well-known Twitch streamers and former professional gamers with extensive experience in first-person shooters and battle royale games. They will bring a unique perspective and skill set to the development process, so it should be fascinating to see what effect their influence has on the game's mechanics.

The inclusion of Shroud and Sacriel in the development of the game is interesting, as it means that it will likely be designed with Twitch streamers and content creators in mind. The goal will likely be to create an experience that is not only fun and engaging to play, but also entertaining to watch via streaming. Furthermore, the fact that Shroud and Sacriel have both built up large respective fanbases over the years means that there is already a built-in core audience for the game. Although, there are also potential challenges that could arise from this collaboration. For example, there is the risk that the game could be too focused on the preferences of Shroud and Sacriel, which could alienate players who aren't aware of their online content.

Splash Damage, the studio behind the game, is also no stranger to the gaming world. The studio is best known for its work on multiplayer FPS titles such as Enemy Territory and Brink. The company's expertise in developing multiplayer games is sure to come in handy as it works with Shroud and Sacriel to create a game that will likely adopt a primarily online model.

No release window was provided along with the announcement, but the collaboration between Shroud, Sacriel, and Splash Damage to create an open-world survival game is an exciting development nonetheless. With the involvement of two well-known Twitch streamers and a somewhat reputable developer, it will be interesting to see how Project Astrid shapes up.

Project Astrid is in development.
