This article is written after the release of Patch 1.01.1, which made playing solo a lot easier than before.

While playing alone can make you feel much stronger as an individual, overall, Elden Ring Nightreign is much easier when played as a group. That being said, communication is a huge caveat to this, as a team that is properly talking and communicating will function a lot better than those just using the ping system. It's highly recommended you find some friends to play with or try to connect with others online to make a party, as talking through strategies of where to go and what to do can make the game much easier.

While individually you'll be stronger when playing solo, a lot of the ease from playing with a party is that enemies will have other people to focus on than just you. Having party members who can take a boss's attention will give you a moment to heal, or let damage-heavy classes wind up a strong hit or spell. There are also a lot of Nightbosses and Nightlords that fight in groups, which can be incredibly difficult to do alone, even with their smaller health bars.

While any character can be played solo, some are a lot better than others, as some are meant to avoid enemy attention and just focus on dealing damage. Playing as a group can also help speed up the process of exploration or clearing out map locations, helping you earn more runes than even the boosted amount you get when playing alone.

How Difficult Is Playing Solo In Elden Ring Nightreign?

With the changes added in Patch 1.01.1, playing solo is much easier. The strength and attack patterns of enemies are unchanged, but getting more runes makes leveling up easier, and you'll tackle a lot of these bosses with a higher stat margin than you would when playing solo. As long as you know what you're doing and stock up on a few Wending Graces before a fight, it is more than possible to win a solo expedition. Playing solo is also a great option if you don't have anyone specifically to play with, as randomly searching for a team can always be a roll of the dice.
