  • Recent updates hint at a remastered collection of the Devil Summoner duology.
  • Fans speculate Atlus could announce the Raidou Kuzunoha HD Collection at Tokyo Game Show 2024.

Plans for remasters of two classic Shin Megami Tensei games, the Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha game duology, have potentially been leaked by Atlus on Steam. Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei franchise is quite diverse, spanning various RPG formats and spin-offs over the years. These have resulted in various subseries being created, like Devil Summoner, Persona, and Devil Survivor, just to name a few.

Atlus in recent years has been doing a lot to bring some of its older titles to new hardware, as seen with the HD port of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, Catherine: Full Body, and various G-Mode Archive releases of various mobile phone spin-offs like Majin Tensei: Blind Thinker and Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible. As such, there are a lot of obscure Atlus titles that have yet to see a re-release, including the Devil Summoner series. Based on some recent updates by Atlus, there may be plans for this subseries to make a comeback, starting with remasters of two classic Devil Summoner games.

This update was first spotted by Warrue on Twitter, who noticed a random update to the Steam version of Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster on SteamDB. This update was made to the Steam achievements of the game, which were applied and then reverted on September 10. The achievements refer to things not in SMT3, such as the character of Raiho being recruited, who only appears in the Devil Summoner series. As such, it appears Atlus has plans to release a remastered collection of the Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha duology, which is comprised of Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army and its sequel Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha HD Collection Could Be Coming Next

Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha was first released on the PS2 in 2006, and differs from past titles in the Shin Megami Tensei franchise by being real-time action RPGs. It got a direct sequel two years later in the form of Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon, though it had a very limited release in North America. Both games were added to the PlayStation Network as a downloadable PS2 Classics title in 2014, but neither game has had a re-release since. The most recent title in the Devil Summoner series in general would be 2022's Soul Hackers 2.

Sega confirmed it would be present at Tokyo Game Show 2024, while also having a lineup for three unannounced titles on its website. As such, it's entirely possible that Atlus and Sega could announce a Raidou Kuzunoha HD Collection at TGS, though this is speculation for now. Fans should wait until more official information is revealed.
