The Virtual Trainer is a new feature added to the series with the release of Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance.
Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance - Naamah and Glasya-Labolas Boss Fight Guide
The player has to fight two powerful enemies together - Naamah and Glasya-Labolas. Here's how to defeat them in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance.
This feature allows the player to recreate some of the best battles in the game in the same manner, or by giving those enemies a power boost. Either way, this is a great way for the player to explore some of their favorite fights once again.
How To Unlock The Virtual Trainer
To unlock the virtual trainer, the player must first advance throughout the Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance storyline. Specifically, the player must arrive at the Nagatcho Leyline fount. There, the player will find some angels that will order them to defeat the remnants of Lucifer, so that they be allowed entrance to the Tokyo Diet Building, known as the Angel’s Request quest.
Once the player defeats the demons, they can return to where the angels were. These angels will have left by then. The player can then access the restricted location.
The player will want to access the building, and there, they will be faced with a boss battle. In your path stands Nuwa, the Mother Goddess. This snake-like woman will not be an easy enemy to defeat, but the player will have to beat her to be able to advance through the story. The player will only have to get half her HP down for the battle to be over.
With Nuwa being defeated, the player will return to their usual Tokyo. There, the player will meet Hayao Koshimizu, the Japanese prime minister and director of Bethel Japan. Upon speaking with him, the player will unlock the Virtual Trainer.
Where to Access the Virtual Trainer
Players who have never accessed the virtual trainer before might be a bit confused about where to find it. To access it, the player should head to any terminal or Leyline fount and teleport there. The player should choose to go to the Tokyo Diet Building.
Once there, the player will spot an NPC with a quest and talk to him. He will explain to the player how the virtual trainer works, explaining that they can recreate battles they’ve already won before here. As a start, the player will be able to recreate their battles from Minato.
This will give the player the sidequest “Training: Minato”
To play this, the player just has to speak to the NPC to get started.
How the Virtual Trainer Works
The Virtual Trainer thrusts the player into multiple consecutive battles, so before starting, the player should save, as a Game Over in the virtual trainer is a game over in general.
The player can unlock more battles the more they advance through the game. By the time they unlock the virtual trainer, however, they will most likely only have access to the Minato battles. These include three fights: The Hydra, Eligor, and Nuwa.
Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance - Prince of Her Dreams Guide
Prince of Her Dreams is a quest given by Miyazu in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance. Here's how the player can complete it.
Just like in the real fight, the player only has to get Nuwa down to half her HP to win this battle in the virtual trainer.
The player will be given consumable items to use during these fights. You can only use these items during your fights in the virtual trainer, as they do not remain with you after leaving this part of the game. As such, you should use them as you see fit.
Original Mode Vs Challenge Mode
When it comes to the virtual trainer, the player has two options when it comes to how they want their battles re-created. They can choose the original mode, or the challenge mode.
The original mode has the player fight against the same enemies they met on their adventure, with the very same power level. This in itself can be a huge challenge as the player still isn’t going to be that much stronger than these enemies.
The challenge mode, however, sees the enemies become more powerful. This will be a huge challenge for many players, especially if they take it on early in the game. A single one of these boss fights can be a challenge on its own. It’s better to leave the challenge mode for a bit later for when the player levels up more and gains more powerful demons.
Is the Player Rewarded For Using The Virtual Trainer?
The virtual trainer can actually be a great way to level up demons, as it allows the player to gain a great amount of experience points. The player can also win a great amount of Macca, the game’s currency. Upon beating the Minato battles for the first time, the player will get a little under 4000 Macca. This is of course a decent amount of money.
By playing the Minato battles and therefore completing the sidequest “Training: Minato,” the player also gets another reward, this time from the NPC, and that is Virtuous Chaos Peripat. This unlocks the ability to use the Magatsuhi skill, Tides of Chaos, when two demons of the Light-Chaos alignment are together.
