Canon of Creation will follow the original story for Shin Megami Tensei 5 and begins by refusing to take the girl's hand. The major story moments, areas visited, and possible endings will be exactly the same as the original, but the entire playthrough will have some small tweaks giving returning players new things to see and do. All of the gameplay changes that aren't tied to Vengeance's story will appear in Canon of Creation, but these changes are mostly quality-of-life updates and some new abilities to use.

If players decide to take the girl's hand, this will lead to the Canon of Vengeance. The Canon Of Vengeance will be full of new things for players to see. While the beginning of the game will play out mostly the same, this story will completely go in its own direction a few hours in. The Canon Of Vengeance will have new characters and a new central plot that leads to new possible endings and the Nahobino's new look. Players are given a second chance to change their minds before the game fully begins, and after that second confirmation, the choice is locked in.

Which Canon Should You Play In SMTV Vengeance

After the stories fully go in their own direction, there will be no crossover or needed information not given at the beginning of the game. Because of this, new players don't need to play the Canon of Creation first and can jump straight into the new storyline of Canon of Vengeance. The only major difference between the Canons will be the story and characters, with actual gameplay being similar across both paths.

Thanks to the game's multiple save slots, players can begin a playthrough on each Canon to try them both out to find their favorite or complete the other route in a subsequent playthrough. Both routes have multiple endings for players to see, giving them both reasons to be played and replayed.
