Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance has a lot of difficult boss fights that will appear in both Canon paths. One of these bosses that will pose a problem even earlier in the Canon of Vengeance is Lahmu, who leads the demons to attack Jouin High School.

After fighting throughout the school without a Leyline Fount to recover at, players will be faced with this difficult multi-phase boss. MP management will be an issue, so it's best to use any items you have to restore your party before entering. It is recommended that players bring both of the guest characters, Tao and Yoko for this fight.

Phase 1 of Lahmu will have the player fighting his six tentacles. Despite the number of targets, he luckily only has two Press Turn Icons. During this phase, use Tao to cast Marakakuja to buff the whole party's defense. Yoko also has access to Matarunda, which should be utilized often, as the combination of these spells will greatly protect the party.

Lahmu will start this phase by giving one character the Mud effect, which will be a pain but is unavoidable and uncurable. After buffing, have Tao use Mahama to hit each tentacle's weakness. Yoko doesn't have access to one of Lahmu's weaknesses, but her overall high Magic stat will make any of her spells deal decent damage to individual tentacles.

The number of tentacles Lahmu has won't affect his capacity to fight, so focus them down however you see best. Feng Huang is a great demon for this fight as it learns Wind Breath, which excels at taking down Lahmu's tentacles. Players can also aim to get Mahama for the Nahobino in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance in order to greatly speed up this fight.

Lahmu has access to Charge, Zionga, Bufula, and Mudo in this phase, so aiming to make him hit a repel won't happen often. As long as buffs and debuffs are always active, the player won't face much trouble in this phase unless Tao gets instakilled by Mudo, in which case simply revive her and switch her back in.

Phase 2 will operate mostly the same as Phase 1 as he has all the same weaknesses. The main change will be that he loses access to Zionga, and will usually favor using Mudo for most turns. As long as his damage output isn't too much of a problem, now would be a good time to switch Tao out and possibly for a fused demon who repels dark attacks.

Rinse and repeat your damage strategy from the first phase as his second phase doesn't have nearly as much health. As it is only a single target, players can switch from Yoko using Matarunda to any other party member that has Tarunda to save the excess MP usage if needed, but by now the fight is almost over.
