Subquests in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance range from defeating enemies and delivering the items they drop to larger mini-boss fights. Somewhere in the middle is the Beastly Battle of Wits, which has three parts and starts off with a riddle.
Subquests such as this one are great sources of XP but also rare items that give demons access to unique Magatsuhi skills that can only be found through this method. Here is how to solve each riddle given by Nozuchi.
Every Riddle Answer In Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance
The first riddle will begin right when the player talks to Nozuchi and begins the quest. The correct answer is, "An Empty Path." After selecting this option, the dialogue will end and players will need to talk to Nozuchi again to begin the second riddle. The second riddle involves trying to find the Sangaku Beads that Nozuchi left somewhere in the Netherworld.
Use the Return Pillar to go to the nearest Leyline Fount and travel to the Shiba Leyline Fount. From here, head west into the small valley and head to the southeastern hill to find a small blue light that can be interacted with. Pick up the Sangaku Beads and return them to Nozuchi to complete the second riddle and begin the third. To complete the third riddle, attack Nozuchi, which will begin a battle with the demon.

Both Kodama and Nozuchi are weak to ice, making demons such as Mermaid and Apsaras great options as they learn multi-target ice spells early on. Another great option is Aitvaras, which already knows a multi-target fire when recruited. Focus on taking down the Kodama first to limit the number of Press Turn icons the enemy gets, then focus on Nozuchi last. Debuff his attack early on to limit the damage he does as he gets two Press Turn icons a turn. Utilize Omagatoki: Critical early on and use the extra turns to defeat the Kodama quickly.
How Good Is The Virtuous Neutral Periapt In Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance
Defeating Nozuchi will reward players with two Lavish Demon Boxes, one Magic Incense, and the Virtuous Neutral Periapt, which gives players access to Omagatoki: Momentum, a Combination Magatsuhi ability in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance. This ability adds a Press Turn icon for every defeated enemy, making it rather useless in a boss fight. Even in random encounters, if multiple enemies have been defeated, the battle will almost be over anyway. This ability has a few very niche uses, and even then may not be worthwhile compared to other Magatsuhi abilities.
