However, the game was purchased by the New York Times back in February, and it is now hosted on the newspaper's website. As of this week, Wordle can also be played through the NYTs Crossword app.

Once at the correct place, choose a starting word. This word needs to be five letters long, a real English word, and should have a variety of letters common to Wordle puzzles. Wordle answers can also have duplicated letters, are usually the American versions of words, and are never plural nouns ending in S. Type the starting word into the site and press enter. This will cause the letters to change colors.

Letters that turn green are right and in the right place in the word.
If the letter turns yellow, it is correct but in the wrong location in the word.
Gray letters are incorrect and won't be in the final puzzle.
