Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice may be getting an anime announcement soon, judging by a new web domain registration. While a Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice anime was previously rumored via leaks, this is some of the first solid evidence indicating that an anime adaptation is likely in the works.

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is one of FromSoftware's brutally difficult games, and originally released back in 2019. The game performed well, receiving positive critic reviews and being both nominated for and winning awards. As of 2023, the game has sold over ten million units, cementing it as a solid FromSoftware game, but it's also been somewhat overshadowed by more recent FromSoftware releases, like the legendary Elden Ring. FromSoftware fans have also kept clamoring for a remaster or remake of Bloodborne, which is still stuck on the PS4, further drawing attention away from Sekiro. However, that could begin to change once fans learn of this newly made discovery.

Sekiro Anime Gets One Step Closer to Reality

Now, it's come to light that a Sekiro anime web domain has been registered online. Specifically, the domain registration is for "Sekiro-Anime.JP," and was registered by Kadokawa, which notably owns a 70% majority in FromSoftware, the developer of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The domain appears to have been registered on July 31, and is set to remain active for a year, though it could easily be extended past that date. At the time of publication, the web address only leads to a 404 page not found alert.

At the moment, that's the only solid information regarding the Sekiro anime. However, prior rumors have circulated that have shed some additional light, though fans should take it with a grain of salt, as it's not confirmed. Allegedly, a studio called Qzil.la will be working on the anime, which is credited as having worked on Kuromi's Pretty Journey, the eleventh ending for Chainsaw Man, and the first season opening for Hell's Paradise. Unfortunately, there have been some concerns surrounding this particular studio, as it announced that it would be producing an anime adaptation of the light novel series The Ideal Sponger Life, made with 60% generative AI. Fans have openly worried that AI could also be utilized in the Sekiro anime, but nothing is certain until an official announcement is made.

At the moment, fans will have to play the waiting game until Kadokawa or FromSoftware make an official statement. With the URL already acquired, though, it seems highly likely that statement could arrive sooner than later.
