A new trailer for Mononoke Second Chapter: Hinezumi, also known as Mononoke The Movie: The Ashes of Rage was released! The first movie is streaming on Netflix, as well as the original TV series.

The movies are a fresh entry to the 2007 anime Mononoke, produceb by Toei Animation – it is technically a spin-off of Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales (2006), an anthology horror anime. A new visual was unveiled a few days ago.

The movie is set to debut on March 14 in Japan, and a brand-new trailer was released – it previews the theme song, "Hana Musou", by Aina the End. The film will drop on Netflix later. Check it out:

When Is Mononoke: Ashes of Rage Coming to Netflix?

While Netflix hasn't officially announced a release date for this movie, it is possible to try to estimate when it will be released on the service based on the first movie.

Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain premiered in Japanese theaters on July 26, 2024, but i t only debuted globally on Netflix on November 28, 2024 – four months later. If this movie follows the same pattern, it should drop on Netflix in July 2026.

A third movie is set to be released in Japan, but the date remains to be announced.

Is It OK to Watch the Movies Without Checking the Series?

You can watch them without having watched the TV series because they are independent works, despite being set in the same world. However, for a better experience, we recommend watching the TV series first (but you can watch it later too).
