Sea of Thievesthe quickest-selling new first-party IP for Xbox One, has received multiple updates since the game's release. Most recently, Sea of Thieves  developer Rare added an unlock in the form of a Halo-themed Ship Set.

Just in time for E3 2019's presentation of Halo Infinite, which is set to be a launch title for Project Scarlett, Rare unveiled its latest Ship Set, which is aptly titled the "Spartan Ship Set." It has multiple decals that demonstrate its inspiration from Halo. These include sails with recognizable Spartan insignias, which have the design of an eagle spreading its wings. The insignia is a symbol of the Spartan branch which birthed Halo's mascot with Master Chief.

The other decals include a flag that has a Master Chief-like helmet design, reminiscent of the helmet worn by historical Spartan combatants. Finally, the ship has a figurehead that looks much like Master Chief, with the same helmet described before as well as armor identical to that worn by Master Chief and a Spartan spear and shield.

In the same announcement tweet, on the Sea of Thieves  Twitter page, details are provided with regards to unlocking the Spartan Ship Set. There are two methods by which players can unlock it. The first method involves playing the game competitively at the E3 convention in The Arena mode. The second method of unlocking involves simply playing the game between now and Saturday, June 15 at 6:59PM EST.

While more than a year ahead of Halo Infinite's intended release, the Spartan Ship Set is a reference likely to appeal to mutual players of the Halo  series and Sea of Thieves. This is fairly similar to the Banjo-Kazooie ship cosmetic added to the game a while back, which featured a very aggressive-looking bear with a plate of armor that had a red bird on it, standing in stark contrast to traditional renderings of Banjo and Kazooie.

This calls into question what future Ship Sets could be added. With Gears 5 on the way, it might be reasonable to expect a Crimson Omen decal or Marcus Fenix figurehead. Perhaps Cuphead will get a shoutout in Sea of Thieves  and be featured on some sails with Mugman. In any case, if you want the Spartan Ship Set, boot up the game by Saturday and you may display your fandom with a Halo-themed Ship Set.

Sea of Thieves  is currently available on Xbox One and PC.
