Sea of Stars has a lot of hidden items and sneaky treasure chests that might be hard to get to. There are a lot of people who seem to be tripped up by one chest in particular: the chest hidden among the skulls in the Necromancer's Lair, where players are looking for the Soul Stone for the character Garl. There doesn't seem to be a way to get to it, and players might be frustrated with the lack of clues on how to get there. In order to get the sweet loot inside, players will need to find the secret to get inside.
The Necromancer's Lair Chest in Sea of Stars
Inside the chest in the spooky location in Sea of Stars called the Necromancer's Lair, there is some very good armor called the Revenant Armor. It's worth going out of the way to pick up for Zale as it has more Defense and more Magic Defense than the Bone Armor he is most likely still wearing at this point. So players will want to head back to the Lair if they missed it the first time to make sure they have this armor on hand.
Sea of Stars: Mr. Chest Mini Game Guide (How to Get the Chump Change Chest)
Mr. Chest promises a grand prize for players if they get his luck game correct five times in Sea of Stars, and players will want this prize.
How to Get to the Necromancer's Lair Skull Chest in Sea of Stars
In order to get to the chest hidden there, players of this classic JRPG-inspired game will need to find a route through the skulls. There is no drop-down or other workaround to get there, just an invisible path that must be forged through. The start of the path is down by the torches on either side of the stairs used to enter this area; it goes to the right, then down, then more to the right, then all the way up to the skull chest. Players will have to use the same path to get back onto the main drag to finish the Lair after picking it up.
There is a kind of visual indication of where to walk if players are paying attention: start walking between the two sets of burning green candles in this section of the skulls. It's not a super intuitive puzzle solution, so it's no wonder it's been tripping players up since Sea of Stars was released. Now that players finally have hold of what's in that chest, they can continue on their journey through this pixel art turn-based JRPG game.
Sea of Stars is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
