13 Ghost Pokemon To Shiny Hunt For Halloween
With Halloween upon Pokemon gamers, it's a great time to go on a Ghost Pokemon shiny hunt. Here's which ones to look out for.
While this spooky outbreak event doesn't feature boosted shiny odds for the first-stage Ghost-types, it does offer a guaranteed chance of seeing the outbreaking Pokemon, which can then be coupled with various sandwiches for better odds. This is also somewhat of a follow-up to an outbreak event last Halloween, featuring Mimikyu, Greavard, Drifloon, and Phantump instead. Since the focus of the outbreak for most players is finding a shiny Ghost Pokemon with the Crafty Mark, many players instantly decide which shinies are more worth their time. From worst to best, these shiny Ghost Pokemon clearly fall into line.
4 Gastly
A Classic Ghost
- From: Generation 1
- Types: Ghost/Poison
Perhaps one of the prime examples of a Pokemon's shiny colors translating poorly with the lighting found in Scarlet and Violet, Gastly normally has a very vibrant and obvious shiny color shift from its typical palette. Changing black and purple gas for a plum and teal gas instead, thanks to the lighting found in the game, looks strikingly similar to the standard design.
Gastly, at the very least, has a far stronger shiny than its final evolution, Gengar, with Haunter appropriately situated right in the middle of the two. With how unfortunate Gengar's current shiny colors are — which amount to a slightly desaturated purple — it's no wonder players hope that the mega and gigantamax shiny color — a stark, ghostly white — is added to the base Pokemon. For Gastly, it is certainly the best shiny in its own family, but compared to the other outbreaking ghosts this Halloween, it isn't anything too special, or obvious.
3 Misdreavus
A Drastic Color Choice
- From: Generation 2
- Type: Ghost
It cannot be said that Misdreavus doesn't have a colorful or obvious shiny color. It can be said, however, that the color chosen is not great. While the tint of the yellow has shifted more towards a green in the most recent game, which would be more befitting this witchy Ghost, it remains an off-putting and strange mustard color.
Every Shiny Fossil Pokemon, Ranked
Fossil Pokemon are already some of the most mysterious Pokemon. Add their shiny color schemes to the mix, and they become must-have team members.
For players looking for the equally-goldenrod Mismagius, with the subtitle of "the Opportunist" thanks to its Crafty Mark, this event is perfect. However, the colors for Misdreavus don't entirely evoke the feeling of the Halloween season as well as the other Pokemon outbreaking during this seasonal event, but it does offer a more autumnal look. Any player afraid of missing a shiny Pokemon cannot go wrong when picking up Misdreavus, and the shiny reward is decent enough to be worth the effort.
2 Bramblin
The Roaming Ghost
- From: Generation 9
- Types: Grass/Ghost
One of the newest Ghost-types introduced in Generation 9, Bramblin has a simple but effective color change. Despite the slightly cartoonish concept of a haunted tumbleweed, the pale look of this shiny coupled with the dark, red eyes gives a slight chill to any player wanting a spookier shiny hunt. With outbreaks taking place all across the region, it can be far simpler to spot a shiny Bramblin than the standard, even with that being fairly easy in the first place.
Ghost Pokemon Are More Than Enough to Justify a Fun Horror-Like Spin-Off
Pokemon has been flirting with horror since its inception, and with so many Ghost Types around, a game giving them the spotlight is long overdue.
Brambleghast adds even more to the shiny colors from its first stage, adding purple highlights at the edges of its tumbleweed and featuring a far paler body than the normal form. With these two Pokemon being brand new in these games, players who haven't had the chance to fully enjoy the new roster will now have a chance to get one of the better shinies from Scarlet and Violet, and one of the better shiny Ghost Pokemon in general.
1 Shuppet
Possessed Doll
- From: Generation 3
- Type: Ghost
A classic ghost Pokemon from Generation 3, Shuppet is easily the most festive option found from this latest round of event outbreaks. A teal color that evokes spookiness and spirits, this haunted puppet is the best Halloween hunt out of these four haunting options.
Turning into the far more terrifying Banette, which mellows into a lighter blue color that suggests ideas of spirit orbs and wisps, Shuppet is a Ghost-type that balances the line between creepy and cute with ease. Since last year's outbreak had Mimikyu, one of the most Halloween-themed Pokemon to ever exist, Shuppet certainly fills that void for Halloween 2024. With this Hoenn Ghost-type flitting around the night air, wearing what looks like ghost costumes as they practice their ghoulish delight, players need to look no further for a shiny Ghost to focus on while this event runs through Halloween.
