Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is a video game developed by Koei Tecmo's Team Ninja and published by Square Enix. It is an action role-playing game in the Final Fantasy franchise and was released as a part of the 35th-anniversary celebrations for the franchise. The game tells an alternate universe story of the origins of the original Final Fantasy, released for the NES in 1987 by Square.
The storyline follows a cast of characters in the alternate Final Fantasy world that are set to face the demonic monster Chaos, known as the final boss in the original Final Fantasy title. The players assume the role of the protagonist Jack. Jack has the ability to switch between two assigned jobs (classes) and use both physical and magical attacks to dispatch enemies as he explores the world. The game features a break gauge, which depletes as an enemy is attacked. After fully depleted, Jack can perform a finishing blow that allows him to harvest some of the enemy's essence into his magic meter.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is set in a dark and gloomy interpretation of the original Final Fantasy. Jack is at the core of the story as he is set on a path to destroy the crazed Chaos. Other characters, including Ash and Jed, join Jack on his journey. The three so-called Warriors of Light face unimaginable challenges, and discouraging setbacks, on the way to destroying Chaos. This is the PS4 version of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, which also includes a free upgrade for PS5.
