Upon stumbling across a power slug for the first time in Satisfactory, new players may be a little surprised by their appearance. These glowing, oversized bugs are fairly common and pretty easy to find. They are used for crafting certain items and are very handy both in the early stages and the late stages of the game.

Satisfactory: How To Overclock Buildings

Overclocking is a great way to tune production and save space in Satisfactory. Here's how to do it.

Using the power slugs in the MAM will allow the player to craft power shards. These can then enable overclocking of buildings. Overclocking a machine can help to increase its productivity. In a game where the object is to build giant and efficient factories, increasing productivity is always a good thing. This guide will take a look at power slugs and how to find them.

Power Slugs - Purpose & Uses In Satisfactory

The MAM In Satisfactory

As mentioned, power slugs are used to increase the rate of production at the player's factories. Using the MAM (Molecular Analysis Machine), you can convert power slugs into power shards. These power shards can then be used to overclock production facilities, extractors, and more.

It's worth noting that overclocking increases the power consumption of any given item. However, this trade off in power is more than worth it as you'll be able to stockpile a lot more valuable materials much more quickly than normal.

The faster the clock speed, the more power is consumed in the process, so be sure that you have enough fuel to keep things running if you are going to be using power slugs.

Where To Find Power Slugs In Satisfactory

Power Slugs In Satisfactory

There are three different types of power slugs; blue, yellow, and purple. Blue slugs are the most common, with the rarity increasing for yellow power slugs, then increasing even further for purple power slugs. Each slug gives the player a different amount of power shards when used in the MAM. Finding the slugs is much easier than many new players might think. First, after you have set up a MAM, you can research the ability to craft an object detector. This handy little machine can be used to track the locations of power slugs.

Outside of that, there are a few different areas where each slug can be found. See the list below for details:

  • Blue Slugs: Typically found sitting on stones or hills. Some blue slugs may require a jetpack to reach.
  • Yellow Slugs: Often found in and around poison pillars. Craft a gas mask to get through the poison unharmed.
  • Purple Slugs: These slugs are usually found high up in hard-to-reach places. You'll need to make use of a jetpack or some ramps in order to grab this particular type of slug. They are also usually surrounded by hostile creatures, so be prepared for a fight.
