The alien planet in Satisfactory is mostly peaceful, but while players are exploring the map, they'll eventually encounter some hostile wildlife along the way. Ranged weapons are great for taking care of predators, but if you want to be more efficient, the game has a variety of ammo types for you to use.
Changing ammo types is fairly simple, but some players might not be aware that they can do this. Default ammo types are usually less effective than specialized ones, and if you want to avoid some common beginner mistakes in Satisfactory, you'll want to make the most of the resources you have.
Satisfactory: How to Get Steel
In Satisfactory, Steel production unlocks by completing a milestone during Phase 2, but the specifics remain unclear.
How To Use Different Ammo Types In Satisfactory
Ranged weapons all have varying kinds of ammo that serve different purposes. After making any of these alternate munitions, players can press and hold their reload key (R by default) to bring up an ammo selection wheel. From here, you'll be able to select any of the ammo types you have in your inventory for the weapon you currently have in your hands.
Naturally, if you have only one type of ammo in your inventory, it will automatically get selected as your preferred ammo type. If you don't want to bother with swapping ammunition all the time, simply bring enough stacks of one ammo type before heading out for an expedition. Vehicles like the Tractor in Satisfactory have extra storage space for placing any extra ammo and materials, making them invaluable for exploration.
All Ammo Types In Satisfactory
There are three different ranged weapons in the game as of writing, and they all use wildly different kinds of ammo. Getting a gun isn't exactly one of the first things players should do in Satisfactory, but one will come in handy once you start exploring the map for caves and crash sites. All weapons and ammunition can be hand-crafted at an Equipment Workshop, or automated via Constructors, Assemblers, and Manufacturers.
Rebar Gun
This is a basic ranged weapon that basically acts like a breech-loaded, single-shot pistol. It uses rebar as ammo, and it can be loaded with different kinds of rebar that have varying effects.
