In the world of Naruto, powerful techniques often manifest in the form of Dojutsu, or visual techniques. At the very beginning of the series, fans saw the power of the Sharingan, and later down the line the Byakugan was revealed as well. It wasn't until much later in the story that the strongest of the Three Great Dojutsu was revealed to the fans, and that ended up being the fabled Rinnegan, known to be a power of the gods.
In the world of Boruto, no ninja wields the power of the Rinnegan any longer. Sasuke Uchiha was the last user of this eye, but this power was stripped from him when Momoshiki stabbed him in the Isshiki arc, rendering him weak for the remainder of the story. Now, it appears that the Rinnegan could be looking to make an official return in the new Boruto Two Blue Vortex manga, and fans are eagerly waiting for its comeback through the character of Sarada Uchiha.
Sarada Uchiha Has The Mangekyo Sharingan Right Now
Sarada Awakened The Mangekyo Sharingan Recently In Boruto
- Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan is overpowered
- Her powers aren't enough to match Boruto and Kawaki
It goes without saying that Sarada is one of the strongest ninjas in the entire Boruto series. Although she wasn't focused on as heavily in the first part of the manga, the second part has given her the characterization that she required, and fans have been thrilled by her role in the story so far.
Sarada Uchiha was recently seen awakening the power of the Mangekyo Sharingan. Technically, Sarada achieved this power right before the timeskip, but she truly found it in her to tap into the power willingly in the Land of Wind arc, where she fought against the Shinju Ryu and was able to destroy him in battle. Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan is overpowered on its own, as it lets her utilize a jutsu known as Ohirume, which grants her the power to create up to four black holes, the power and intensity of which she can control fully. Sarada can also freely choose her targets that are affected by the tremendous gravity of her black holes and then crush them at will.
It's okay to use the power you're hiding inside for the sake of those you love. — Yodo to Sarada Uchiha
Sarada's strength is such that even someone as strong as a Shinju cannot resist the power of her black hole, and that automatically makes her one of the strongest characters in the series. However, that still isn't enough for someone like Sarada, because stronger enemies exist in the world, and she aims to become the Hokage of the village, which means that, at the very least, she should be comparable to the likes of Naruto Uzumaki at his peak. This is precisely why Sarada needs even more power-ups, and why the Rinnegan is absolutely essential for her if she is to grow even stronger.
Sarada Can Awaken The Rinnegan In The Future
Sarada Has Inherited Sasuke's Six Paths Powers
Sarada's potential for awakening the Rinnegan comes directly from her father, Sasuke Uchiha. As fans know, the Rinnegan is a fabled eye that only a handful of individuals have awakened. The first person to have access to this power was none other than the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki. In his case, this power was a result of Kaguya eating the chakra fruit on Earth. He was born with the power of the Rinnegan, while his brother, Hamura, was born with the power of the Byakugan, which eventually evolved into the Tenseigan.
By mixing the power of Indra and Asura, one can obtain a piece of the power of the Sage of Six Paths. — Zetsu
Hagoromo then had kids of his own, and both of them had different powers:
- Indra was born with the power of the Sharingan.
- Asura did not have any kekkei genkai but had the tremendous vitality of his father.
To achieve the power of the Rinnegan, one essentially had to combine the powers of Indra and Asura together to give rise to the chakra of the Sage of Six Paths. Madara Uchiha ended up awakening the power by becoming the first person in history to mix Indra and Asura's chakra.
He stole a piece of Hashirama's flesh and then, fusing it into his own body, awakened the Rinnegan near his death. The only other person to awaken the Rinnegan in the story was Sasuke Uchiha, and in his case, he managed to awaken it after meeting the Sage of Six Paths, who gifted his own chakra to him directly. After receiving such a massive power, Sasuke's Mangekyo Sharingan turned into the Rinnegan; however, only in his left eye.
Simply by holding on to the power of the Sage of Six Paths, Sasuke has actually given Sarada the potential to awaken the Rinnegan as well. The fact is that Sarada holds Sasuke's chakra, and when she was born, Sasuke already had the Rinnegan, which means his chakra was most certainly transferred to Sarada as well. As such, Sarada's eyes should have the potential to evolve into the Rinnegan. However, what actually triggers this evolution remains to be seen.
This is, in some ways, very similar to how Himawari achieved a human Tailed Beast transformation, as fans know. After the death of Kurama, he was somehow reincarnated inside Himawari and actually managed to fuse with her, creating a Human Tailed Beast incarnation. Sarada's case is most likely going to be very similar.
Kurama speculated that the reason why he incarnated inside Himawari was that she had Naruto's chakra, and perhaps a piece of him was passed along when she was born. Her strong connection to the Otsutsuki is also part of the reason why Kurama latched on to her. The same can be said for Sarada as well, because she has the power of the Sage of Six Paths through Sasuke Uchiha. At birth, she could easily have received some of the Sage's powers, which could eventually go on to give her the Rinnegan.
Sarada Has To Surpass Sasuke By The End Of Boruto
Sarada Uchiha Must Become The Hokage
Regardless of how Sarada receives the Rinnegan in the future, the fact is that she absolutely needs this power if she is to surpass Sasuke at the moment. Sarada is quite strong, but she clearly needs to get even stronger if she is to surpass her father and become a worthy Hokage of the village. The power of the Mangekyo Sharingan by itself is not enough, especially when taking into consideration the fact that it will eventually lose light and make her permanently blind.
I have decided to follow in the footsteps of Lord Seventh. I want to become a shinobi like him. I will become the Hokage one day. — Sarada Uchiha
Before that happens, Sarada has to evolve her eyes even further, and the Rinnegan is absolutely necessary for her to acquire. Sarada also cannot keep up with the likes of Kawaki and Boruto if she stays with the power of her Mangekyo Sharingan, while the other two continue to evolve even further, and it would be quite bizarre in terms of overall power structure in the series. For all these reasons, Sarada acquiring the Rinnegan is absolutely necessary for the future of the story.
