Popular Twitch streamer Sapnap announced that he's moving to Kick. He's best known for his Minecraft streams and YouTube videos, and for being one of the founding members of Dream SMP.

Sapnap started uploading Minecraft videos on YouTube in 2019, where he later amassed over 4 million subscribers. Then, his Twitch career began in 2020, where thousands of viewers watched him play Minecraft with streamers like Dream and Karl Jacobs. His Twitch channel boomed further, garnering over 3 million followers, when they formed Dream SMP, a Minecraft role-playing server.

On August 9, Sapnap posted an announcement video that he was leaving Twitch for Kick. The one-minute video showed him in his streaming room when his LED light, which had a Twitch logo next to his name, kept falling over. He then decides to throw out the light and install a new one, which had the Kick logo next to his name. Sapnap didn't say when he'll start streaming on Kick, but his channel already has over 3,000 followers and counting.

Sapnap is the latest Twitch streamer to jump to Kick, following the likes of xQc and Ninja. Many of his followers congratulated him on his career move. Kick co-founder Trainwrecks also welcomed Sapnap to the platform. Meanwhile, there were a few people who seemed surprised that Sapnap left Twitch, especially since he already had an established fanbase on the streaming platform.

One could argue that Sapnap wasted his flourishing Twitch career because his followers and subscribers might not follow him to Kick. However, he's also not the first successful streamer to switch platforms, especially with Twitch's questionable policy changes. Many already left the platform for YouTube a few years back, and Kick has now become the new go-to for streamers. Most of the time, some creators would explain that YouTube and Kick gave them better contracts compared to Twitch. The best example was xQc signing a $100 million deal with Kick.

Meanwhile, many people still had reservations towards Kick because of its lenient moderation rules. The platform had been criticized for promoting online gambling and sexual content. Twitch streamer Pokimane had famously criticized Kick, saying that she won't move to the platform even if she was offered millions of dollars. On the other hand, Kick is still a young streaming platform, so there's still time to fix any of its issues to ensure that the platform was safe for both creators and viewers.
