The release date for Sakamoto Days Part 2 has finally been officially announced. Sakamoto Days aired internationally on Netflix from January to March 2025, and despite complaints about the animation quality, the series was featured in the Top 10 for many weeks straight.

Sakamoto Days Part 2 Release Date
Netflix released a new trailer for Sakamoto Days Part 2, and finally announced the release date of the second cour — we already knew that the series would return in July and that it would air on Mondays, but now they have announced that it will be released on July 14, 2025, confirming some rumors that have been circulating for the past few days.
The first cour of Sakamoto Days covered up to Chapter 37 of the manga, so Part 2 will likely continue to cover the Death Row Prisoners arc, the last arc in which Lu is one of the main characters — she rarely appears in the series from this point on, but other characters will be introduced and get some spotlight. Actually, Lu was likely removed from the main story because she wasn't very popular among fans, and manga sales dropped considerably when the story focused on her.
What Were The Main Complaints In Part 1?
Many fans of the Sakamoto Days manga were disappointed with the anime adaptation because they expected the action scenes to have more movement. The series relies more on impactful frames than on complex, movement-filled scenes, so some scenes may indeed feel too stiff. In their opinion, Sakamoto Days failed to match the quality of series like Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, and Solo Leveling. Furthermore, the anime skipped many slice-of-life moments from the manga that could have compensated for the lack of movement.
