Saints Row is undergoing a soft reboot with its upcoming release on August 23. This reboot, simply titled Saints Row, is available for pre-order, with the most expensive option being the Legacy Edition.

The first Saints Row game was released 14 years ago, in 2006. The first Saints Row offered quite a gritty experience, with weapons, and a storyline that was grounded in realism. However, by Saints Row 4, the protagonist (and leader of the Third Street Saints) is the President of the United States, and leading the charge against an alien invasion of earth. This reboot will be the first Saints Row game since Saints Row The Third Remastered in 2020.

In preparation for the release of the reboot in August, the game is now available for pre-order, more specifically, the Legacy Edition is now up for pre-order. Initially, several editions were up for pre-order, the Standard Edition, the Gold Edition, and the Platinum Edition. Saints Row Legacy Edition is available at Best Buy and will cost $89.99 on both PlayStation and Xbox. The Legacy Edition will include the core game, the pre-order bonus, the expansion pass, and Saints Row The Third Remastered. That expansion pass is sure to come is useful as the Saints Row reboot has 3 post-launch expansions planned.

This reboot will be the first piece of original Saints Row content in 7 years since the Gat Out of Hell expansion for the fourth entry in the series. This game will be the first to introduce an entirely new cast of characters, while also introducing the city of Santo Ileso. One popular feature that will be returning from previous installments will be the ability to create and customize the player character.

The latest installment in the series aims to get back some of that old Saints Row feeling. Although Saints Row was viewed as wacky versions of Grand Theft Auto at times, some believed the superpowers and aliens of Saints Row 4 to be a step too far. From what has been shown off so far, this reboot looks to be much more grounded in reality, while still maintaining that signature Saints Row craziness that made the original games so loved.

Saints Row is out on August 23rd on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
