PlayStation fans took to social media to express disappointment about the sudden removal of LittleBigPlanet mascot Sackboy from the PlayStation Productions intro card. Sackboy's disappearance from PlayStation branding reportedly took place following the release of Until Dawn in theaters.

Originally released in 2008 on the PS3, LittleBigPlanet was a physics-based 2D platformer developed by British studio Media Molecule. LittleBigPlanet allowed users to craft their own individual levels and share them with others online. LittleBigPlanet was followed up by two mainline sequels. Players were represented in LittleBigPlanet by customizable brown ragdolls called Sackpeople. In promotional materials and crossover titles like PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, the Sackpeople were represented by Sackboy. Unfortunately, as of October 2024, LittleBigPlanet 3 has been delisted from the PlayStation Store, and Media Molecule has yet to announce its future projects.

Months after LittleBigPlanet 3's removal, fans of Sony's brown ragdoll mascot were dealt another telling blow from an unlikely source. As reported by PlayStation Lifestyle, Sackboy is nowhere to be seen on PlayStation Productions' title card, which shows characters from franchises like Ratchet and Clank, God of War, and Helldivers. The change was revealed to have taken place with the release of the Until Dawn film, and shared by Twitter user Realradec.

Sackboy Is Absent From PlayStation Productions Title Card

A previous PlayStation Productions title screen taken from 2023's Gran Turismo was shown as a comparison, with Sackboy still featured on the right side of the screen, in front of Aloy from the Horizon series. On the Until Dawn slate card, Sackboy's spot is seemingly empty. However, the Psycho from Until Dawn was added towards the middle of the screen, with Astro Bot and Clank swapping spots from the Gran Turismo crawl. Other characters like Uncharted's Nathan Drake and Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal remained in the same spots on both title screens.

The sudden removal of Sackboy from PlayStation Productions' title card was met with disappointment from fans. In response, PlayStation fans pointed out that Sackboy was featured in the season finale of Amazon Prime's Secret Level series alongside other PlayStation characters like Kratos from God of War. Although Sackboy is also featured as a skin in Astro Bot, the 2020 spin-off Sackboy: A Big Adventure was the last time the adorable brown doll appeared on PlayStation consoles.

Despite the surprising erasure from PlayStation Productions' title card, Sackboy's legacy as a PlayStation mascot endures in the hearts and minds of gamers. It remains to be seen if or when Sackboy will return to the spotlight.
