Upon reaching the marked area in the Fractured Plains and speaking to the ghost there, players discover that they cannot proceed further unless they possess a special item called Bloodwood Sap in RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
After revealing how the spirit tragically died, it gives you the recipe to craft a Challenge Horn. One of the key ingredients to make it is Bloodwood Sap, which is only acquired by exploring the Bloodblight Swamp in RuneScape: Dragonwilds. Before attempting to get it, players must make preparations, as the swamp is extremely toxic and dangerous.

How To Get Bloodwood Sap In RuneScape: Dragonwilds
Bloodwood sap can be obtained from the bloodwood tree found in Bloodblight Swamp. From the swamp entrance in the Fractured Plains, head south and keep walking until you find a bridge that leads to a large enemy camp. In the middle of the area is a huge tree with red leaves. This is the bloodwood tree, and you can see the sap scattered around the trunk.
Sadly, there are a lot of things you need to consider before attempting to get the bloodwood sap. First, the Bloodblight Swamp is extremely toxic, and you can't explore it without dying of poisoning. Second, the area is dangerous if your gear is insufficient, so make sure to have good equipment to fight the enemies. Third, the bloodwood sap can only be cut down using an Iron Logging Axe, which takes time to obtain.
How To Safely Explore The Bloodblight Swamp
To safely explore the Bloodblight Swamp in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, you need to craft the Antipoison Potion. Drinking it will give you resistance to poison for 300 seconds. After the timer is about to end, you need to drink another potion to keep exploring. So, players have to brew multiple Antipoison Potions to survive the Bloodblight Swamp.
To make the potion, collect Harralander, Bittercap Mushroom, and Clay from the Whispering Swamp. Use the Pottery Wheel and Kiln to make a Clay Vessel, and then combine all the ingredients in a Brewing Cauldron to make the Antipoison Potion.
How To Craft The Smithing Anvil To Have Better Equipment
The Smithing Anvil is a structure that unlocks various new recipes for weapons and armor to better protect players against tough enemies. As long as they have the recipes, they can craft equipment that is level 3 or 4 to explore Ashenfall more easily.
To unlock the Smithing Anvil, you need to explore the Fractured Plains and collect some Tin and Copper. Next, put them together in a Furnace to create Bronze Bars. This will unlock many new structure recipes, including the Smithing Anvil.
How To Craft The Iron Logging Axe To Cut Down The Bloodwood Sap
To make an Iron Logging Axe, players must venture into the Stormtouched Highlands and mine some Iron Nodes. Upon collecting some, return to your base and put the iron in the Furnace to get some Iron Bars, which unlocks the Iron Logging Axe recipe.
Head to the Smithing Anvil and combine the following materials to make the axe:
- Iron Bar x6: Melt Iron in the Furnace.
- Oak Logs x4: Cut down Oak Trees.
- Wool Thread x2: Use Soft Animal Fur or Fleece on the Spinning Wheel.
After completing all the necessary preparations, head back to the bloodwood sap location to collect it. It's easier to defeat the enemies before attempting to get the sap, as they might hinder the process. Approach the sap and use the Iron Logging Axe to chop it.
As a single player, you will need only one bloodwood sap. However, if you are playing in a group, you can collect one for each player. Since the other saps are unreachable, try building a temporary wood foundation and raising it as much as you can, then use Windstep to jump on it. Get the sap and then destroy the wood to get back the materials if desired. Return to your friends and drop the bloodwood sap so they can advance on the main quest as well.
