Marvel Needs To Explain The Whereabouts Of These Missing X-Men In Avengers: Doomsday
Marvel might be bringing the X-Men into Avengers: Doomsday, but the film must reveal why some will be missing.
Charles Xavier is one of the most important and influential characters within the X-Men franchise, meaning the casting has to be taken seriously. According to industry insider MyTimeToShineHello, that's exactly what Marvel Studios is doing as they're currently eyeing Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston to take on the role of Professor X for the upcoming seventh phase of the MCU.
Cranston would prove to be a popular casting choice given his extraordinary talent, with the popular actor being best known for playing Walter White in the hit crime drama Breaking Bad. Meanwhile, he's also dazzled as Hal in the family comedy Malcolm in the Middle. His versatility makes him an ideal option to play Professor X, who has to showcase calmness and kindness when training the younger X-Men. At the same time, Professor X can immediately switch to being serious when he needs to protect the X-Men and showcase his power. His time in Breaking Bad proved that he often showed himself as a family man, but he was able to totally transform himself when he took on his alter-ego of Heisenberg, where he would be far more stern and aggressive.
The character of Professor X is best associated with Sir Patrick Stewart, who took on the role six times within the Fox movies and made a cameo appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He is also set to reprise the role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, providing what could be his final appearance as the iconic character. Meanwhile, James McAvoy has also starred as Professor X in live-action movies four times, taking on the younger version of the mutant.
Marvel is expected to be recasting the X-Men for its own versions of the characters for the films set to take place in the MCU moving forward. Given his popularity and talent, adding someone like Cranston to the cast would be a positive start to that process. The Breaking Bad star has expressed an interest in being part of a superhero movie in the past, and as he showed when playing Walter White, he has no problem shaving his head for a role, which is important for Professor X. The character often has a lot of monologues, which is where Cranston would shine brightest. There has been no official confirmation of any X-Men movies, but Marvel Studios has clarified that they're coming in the future.
