A recent leak reveals a brief overview of what Genshin Impact players can expect from Mavuika and Xbalanque, the two most anticipated characters in Natlan. When asked to define the main appeal of Genshin Impact, most fans would make one of two arguments: the world-building of Teyvat, or its colorful cast of characters. From Hu Tao to Furina, Genshin Impact has introduced a wide array of memorable personalities, and Version 5.0 marks the debut of three more.
In terms of upcoming 5-Stars in Genshin Impact, Version 5.0 is expected to feature Mualani in the first half, and Kinich in the second half. The pair will be followed up by Xilonen in Version 5.1, and Chasca in Version 5.2. As opposed to Nahida and Furina, the two previous Archons, Mavuika is rumored to only make a playable debut in Version 5.3 – which further implies that the storyline in Natlan will either be longer than the previous regions, or staggered by an extra patch. By contrast, Xbalanque's release date remains unknown, with many players speculating that it will come near the end of the Natlan era.

A Genshin Impact leak reveals information about a new Geo character named Xilonen, who is expected to arrive in the upcoming updates.
That being said, information provided by White could potentially pinpoint the exact role that Mavuika and Xbalanque will fulfill in Genshin Impact teams. While early leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, and ability kits are extremely malleable during development, White has nonetheless established a good track record in recent updates. White describes Mavuika as a direct upgrade to Xiangling, one of the strongest 4-Star characters in the game. Rather than being yet another hypercarry such as Arlecchino or Yoimiya, Mavuika will be a 5-Star Pyro Sub-DPS. By contrast, Xbalanque will be a Support, offering team-wide ATK% bonuses in a similar fashion to Bennett.
Genshin Impact Leak Describes Mavuika and Xbalanque as 5-Star Xiangling and Bennett
Given how consistently strong Xiangling and Bennett have been since launch, it makes sense that HoYoverse was reluctant to powercreep the Pyro pair. However, if the ability kit for Mavuika and Xbalanque remains unchanged, and the information provided by White turns out to be true, players will finally have 5-Star options for their Spiral Abyss teams in Genshin Impact.
White also made the claim that Capitano would not feature as a playable Fatui Harbinger in the Natlan era, and that Columbina will fulfill that role instead. Though this would come as a great blow to Capitano fans, it should be noted that there is no current concensus among leakers on which Harbinger will join the Event Banners in Natlan. The only known thing about Capitano in Genshin Impact is that his weapon type was datamined as Sword – his Element, playable model, and release date all remain in the realm of speculation.
While it may be some time until Mavuika makes her debut in Version 4.3, it's important for Genshin Impact players to keep themselves informed about upcoming characters. Primogems may be plentiful whenever a new region comes out, but they remain a premium currency all the same, and Mavuika and Xbalanque are shaping up to be must-pull characters.
