The pumpkin-headed mythical figure is available to purchase for 31,000 Robux via Roblox’s official storefront, but players should double-check they’re purchasing the official character if they search for the item. Several fakes have appeared on the marketplace charging the same amount as Roblox’s official account, and the community has alerted players to these bogus items. This isn’t the first time the Halloween character has had issues in the game, as 2023 saw Roblox players obtain the Headless Horseman for free because of a bug. Still, Twitter users had a lot of love for the Horseman’s 2024 return and the character’s fiery animation.
Roblox Announces the Headless Horseman's Return
The Headless Horseman originated from European folklore during the Middle Ages, depicting a rider on horseback who is missing his head. The most popular representation of the character came to life in Washington Irving’s 1820 short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and variants of the specter have emerged several times across modern pop culture media. The character has appeared in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, World of Warcraft, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, and even The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has its own Headless Horseman ghost.
Roblox joins a host of other video games celebrating the spooky season in 2024, including Among Us’ Halloween cosmetics bundle and GTA Online’s new Halloween Mode. Additionally, Roblox game Horse Life is celebrating its first Halloween event, showcasing a brand new event horse with minigames, and players should expect more festive fun to arrive in the next few weeks.
