The developer of the Roblox game Grow a Garden has announced plans to make drastic changes by prioritizing "depth" in farming instead of constant events. Grow a Garden recently broke several Roblox records, reaching a whopping 21 million concurrent players at one point.
However, despite Grow a Garden's recent milestones, developer Splitting Point Studios seems dissatisfied with the game's current roadmap. It believes the golden days of the popular farming sim were marked by the team adding more novel updates like Pets, Crafting, and Cosmetics.

Grow a Garden's New Era Is All About 'Depth in the Farm'
In a post on the game's Discord, Grow a Garden's development leader announced Splitting Point Studios' decision to shift the upcoming updates' focus from events to deeper farming and exploration mechanics. "We will add more depth to player farms," the post reads. While major events in Grow a Garden have been a key selling point, the developer sees them as hard to keep fresh. Therefore, going forward, the team will prioritize new gameplay mechanics like Incubators, Fertilizers, Easter eggs, a Garden Encyclopedia, and even new game modes.
The announcement makes it clear that the Grow a Garden community hasn't been happy with recent developments, prompting those behind the game to consider all the content they could have added instead. "Everyone has felt like the last few weekly events have become repetitive," says the developer. Grow a Garden will still receive new events, as Splitting Point Studios finds them fun and engaging. However, with more players growing critical of events lately, the popular Roblox sim will shift its focus to more extensive mechanics instead.
Some ideas the Grow a Garden developer is considering include Incubators to speed up hatching, Fertilizers that make crops rainbow for a few hours, and a Challenge Mode with time-limited tasks, such as 24 hours to grow the best fruit. It also plans to introduce "meta mechanics," though details haven't been shared yet. Additionally, the team aims to add a permanent cooking function, letting players feed NPCs with home-grown items.
There is no clear timeline for when Grow a Garden's new era will begin, and Splitting Point Studios has stated that these patches will take time to implement. However, the studio seems determined to start adding some of the promised features as soon as possible. Players can expect to see the initial waves of changes soon, as they are slated for a weekly release. In the coming months, it will be interesting to see how this new approach affects the player base and whether it helps expand Grow a Garden' s audience.
