The Mariana's Veil update just made the Fisch map even bigger, adding five new underwater spots and bringing the bestiary count to over 30. One of these stunning locations includes Challenger’s Deep, home to a variety of beautiful fish.
This area is freezing cold, with ice forming all around. Alongside the native blue icy fish, you’ll also have a chance to hook a giant secret creature that’ll leave you speechless. This guide will show you how to complete the entire Challenger's Deep bestiary in Fisch.
Fisch: How to Get the Challenger's Rod
In Fisch, the Challenger's Rod can be a great means of earning cash and XP thanks to its unique passive ability. Here's how to snag it in the game.
How to Complete the Challenger's Deep Bestiary In Fisch
The Challenger's Deep bestiary has nine fish, each with unique icy patterns. They’re totally different from the ones found in Mariana’s Veil’s first layer, and catching them all will finish your second-layer bestiary and earn you a progression badge.
Challenger's Deep Location In Fisch
Initially, access to Challenger's Deep is restricted, so you’ll need to head to Volcanic Vents (the first layer) and finish the submarine heat update quest to gain entry. Once that’s done, reaching it is pretty straightforward. From the surface, just keep descending until you spot light-blue leaves and a giant black patch on the ground (if Abyssal Zenith isn’t unlocked yet), then move sideways toward the icy formations. Players starting from Volcanic Vents should dive north until they reach the ocean, then go down and keep going until they start seeing blue leaves and walls, then turn northwest.
After reaching the top of Challenger's Deep, your warmth meter will start dropping, so quickly put on a Winter Cloak. This is highly recommended since you'll need to reach the fishing spot to catch the bestiary-exclusive fish, and it's quite a long way. Once equipped, head northwest into the cave and follow the path until you reach the Ice Fishing Pond.

While the Challenger's Deep bestiary wraps up once all nine listed fish are collected, the Ice Fishing Pond also houses a secret fish called the Frozen Leviathan. This impressive creature requires creating the perfect environment, and is worth snagging since it plays a key role in solving the Giant Gate puzzle in the fourth layer of Mariana's Veil.
How To Catch All Challenger's Deep Bestiary Fish In Fisch
Here are some tips to catch all the Challenger's Deep bestiary fish easily:
- Baits are important here, so gather as many as possible in your equipment bag. You can get the seven mentioned baits from Bait Crates (buy for 120 in-game cash from Moosewood) and Truffle Worms from Volcanic Geodes (obtainable from a traveling merchant or by fishing in Roslit Volcano).
- If a certain fish isn’t biting, use weather-based totems and try fishing in the right season. Since there’s no confirmed method for catching a Cryoskin in Fisch, try using Garbage Bait.
- Use a decent rod—the bestiary-exclusive mythical fish has a -50 Progress Speed, so having one with high resilience is crucial.
