The fastest and easiest way to install mods for Risk of Rain 2 is to use r2modman from Thunderstore. This is an easy-to-use mod manager with a built-in browser containing some of the best mods the community has made so far. Here's what you need to do to install and run the game with mods using r2modman:

  1. Download r2modman from Thunderstore.io.
  2. Extract the files somewhere on your PC, then run the installer.
  3. Run r2modman
  4. Select Risk of Rain 2 from the list of games.
  5. Pick Steam or Epic Games Store depending on where you bought the game.
  6. Create a new profile.

If you'd rather not let a third-party app handle things for you, you can still install mods manually. You can find all the mods you need over at Thunderstore. To do this, perform the following steps:

  1. Download BepInExPack and all of its prerequisites from Thunderstore.io.
  2. Extract the BepInEx folder (along with the winhttp.dll and doorstop files) to your ROR 2 install folder (Make sure the BepInEx folder and the other files are in the same folder as the game's executable file).
  3. Download mods and extract them to the BepInEx→Plugins folder.
  4. Star ROR 2 from Steam.

You need to download the BepInEx prerequisite files and paste them into the BepInEx folder in your game's installation directory. Overwrite as needed, and things should work out fine. If you'd like to try some neat ROR 2 survivor skin mods or other new content, the same principle applies — just put the.dll files into the Plugins folder, and they'll be ready to go.
