Chapter 4 of Separate Ways begins at the Castle, where Luis and Ada aim to retrieve the Amber. Luis has different intentions, though. He seeks a suppressant, a temporary cure for Las Plagas, to assist Leon and Ashley.
However, since his lab is destroyed, Luis requests Ada’s help in finding more ingredients to produce the remedy. This walkthrough for Separate Ways will assist players in locating the necessary components, as well as gathering any valuable items encountered, all while aiming for a speedy completion of Chapter 4.
How to Complete Chapter 4
The main objective of Chapter Four is to collect all three ingredients of the suppressant. For that, players must visit three main areas (Bindery, Treasury Room, and Collection Room) and solve five puzzles. Here’s a step-by-step guide to doing so.
Save Luis from the Fire
At the beginning of Chapter 4, Ada must follow Luis into his secret laboratory. However, they both find out that the Zealots have set it on fire, abolishing all suppressant samples. Once Luis jumps into the burning room, players should follow him into the backroom and save his life.
After that, Luis will prompt Ada to collect three ingredients (Red Ink, Golden Bottle, and Blue Butterfly) in order for him to create more Las Plagas remedies. This is where they part, and the main objective of Chapter 4 begins.
Find the Red Ink in the Bindery
Start by heading to the Bindery—latch onto the cracked window and enter the first room on the right. Here, players will need to solve two puzzles to unlock the Red Ink, the suppressant’s first ingredient. (See below).
Wall with Four Slots Puzzle Solution
The first puzzle in Chapter 4 is a locked wall with two empty slots. Players will need to retrieve these pieces to initiate the puzzle. The first Lithographic Stone is next to the wall itself on the couch. The second one is in the other room, near the Merchant. (To access this area, players must move the closet).
Once the two Lithographic Stones are on the wall, create the following combination to unlock it: Up (Square Red Hand Fan), Right (Square Black Umbrella), Down (Hexagon Black Dress), Left (Hexagon Red Butterfly).
Bindery Machine Puzzle Solution
In the Bindery Room, activate the bindery machine by turning the wheel. Grab the clue and investigate it. Finally, shoot the shields on the wall (next to the fireplace) in this order: Down left, up right, down right. This will unlock the hidden drawer containing the Red Ink.
Steal the Golden Bottle from the Treasury Room
For the second ingredient, the Golden Bottle, players must first locate the Crimson Lantern that unlocks the gated room. For that, they must solve the gong puzzle in the adjacent area and then find a way to steal the bottle. Here are the solution:
Gong Puzzle Solution
Follow the corridor next to the goat-headed statues into the room with a giant gate. Shoot the gong on the left to open the first gate and enter the puzzle area. Inside, shoot the gongs that match the doors’ symbols. On the way in, the correct order is two snakes and three eagles. On the way out, three eagles, three fishes, and two snakes.
After retrieving the Crimson Lantern, put it in the empty hand of the statue and continue the path into the Hall of Tribulation.
Silver and Gold Gates Puzzle
In the Hall of Tribulation, locate the dead-end on the left and grab the Silver Bottle. Put the bottle in the cavity next to the silver-stamped gate and retrieve it from the other side. Follow the path and do the same trick for the Treasury Room to solve the puzzle.
Once players steal the Golden Bottle, a set of Armadura will attack them. Head out of the Treasury Room to unlock the door next to it. First, place the Golden Bottle in the cavity. Next, get in the corridor and replace it with the Silver one.
The stamps on the gates imply the key. Use the Silver Bottle for silver-stamped doors and the Golden one for golden-stamped doors.
Grab the Blue Butterfly in the Collection Room
Go down the ladder at the end of the Castle Battlements and get into the Collection Room through the door on the left. Here, follow the scientist’s footsteps to discover the three-digit code to the insect locker. The code is Rhinoceros Beetle, Goat Skull, and Lizard. (Left to right.)
Grabbing the Blue Butterfly, the suppressant’s last ingredient, will conclude the fourth chapter in Separate Ways and set the stage for Ada’s next journey.
