Last year, Capcom was hit with a ransomware attack that prematurely leaked the company's plans for the next few years. The Capcom ransomware leaks have proven to be accurate so far, though one game mentioned in the leaks has yet to be revealed. Resident Evil Outrage, believed to be a Nintendo Switch exclusive Resident Evil game, was apparently meant to launch in Q4 of 2021, though it doesn't seem like that's going to happen.

Capcom released a financial report detailing its game sales and near future plans. The report confirms impressive Resident Evil franchise sales and is generally positive for Capcom, but it has some bad news for Resident Evil fans looking forward to the leaked Switch game. According to the financial report, Capcom has no big new game releases between now and the end of the fiscal year, which wraps up March 31, 2022.

Unless Capcom has a swerve in store for fans, this means that the rumored Resident Evil Switch game is highly unlikely to meet its leaked 2021 release window. Not only that, but it seems as though the game won't be releasing within the first few months of 2022 either. Assuming the leaked Resident Evil Switch game even exists, fans shouldn't expect to play it until April 2022 or later in the year.

The Resident Evil Switch game has been mentioned by multiple reputable leakers, so it seems like just a matter of time before it's officially revealed. Some had expected the Resident Evil Switch game to have been announced already, and others still believed that the game was going to be out by the end of the year as part of the Resident Evil 25th anniversary celebrations. Whatever the case may be, it seems Capcom has decided to keep a lid on it for now.

But just because the Resident Evil Switch game apparently won't be out within the next six months, that doesn't mean that fans won't get to see it in action soon. A Resident Evil Switch game reveal could happen anytime, even if the game itself is not due out until later in 2022.

As for what the Resident Evil Switch game will entail, that remains to be seen, but the leaks suggest that the game will be set at a college campus with Rebecca Chambers as the main playable character. Hopefully Resident Evil fans don't have to wait too much longer to find out if there's any truth to the leaks or not.

Resident Evil Outrage is rumored to be in development for the Nintendo Switch.
