A reputable leaker has claimed Capcom will announce the long-rumored remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica later this year. The Resident Evil series has had trouble keeping secrets under wraps over the past year or so, with many details about the upcoming Requiem leaking well ahead of their official confirmation. As Requiem's release date approaches, all eyes have turned to the future, and rumor has it Resident Evil Code: Veronica could be next in the pipeline.

Capcom has kept fans of its survival horror franchise well-fed lately. The much-hyped Resident Evil Requiem is arriving on February 27, and two older RE games are coming to Switch 2 on the same day. Based on what's come out so far, it looks like the latest game is something of a love letter to fans of the franchise, with several iconic returning characters and locations, and the good times may keep rolling with another revival before long.

Leaker Claims Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake Will Be Announced in 2026

Dusk Golem, a leaker with a long history of accurate Resident Evil predictions, has asserted that Capcom will announce a Code: Veronica remake later in 2026. The insider was among the first to claim that a Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake is in development back in 2024, and they have now doubled down on these rumors while denying another. The new announcement prediction came as a response to a fan asking if RE 5 would get a remake soon, as voice actor Eva La Dare seemingly teased it. Dusk Golem denied this, saying La Dare's tease was about a different project, but said Capcom does have a big reveal coming soon in the form of Code: Veronica.

This timeline does align with earlier rumors. In August 2025, Dusk Golem said the Code: Veronica remake was ahead of schedule, which the leaker said would likely mean Capcom would release it before the also-rumored RE Zero remake. If that's true, then it would make sense for Capcom to announce the remake sometime this year, likely after Requiem's release date to capitalize on the buzz around the series before releasing the game sometime in 2027. Dusk Golem did not offer any specifics about when such an announcement would come but seemed certain that it would happen "later" in 2026. That seems to imply it could be a matter of months before fans hear anything, but anything after Requiem's February release may be on the table.

While Capcom has remained tight-lipped about any remake of its decades-old Resident Evil spin-off, there have been plenty of rumors and leaks to fill the silence. The Code: Veronica remake could make some big story changes to help it fit into how the series narrative has shifted since its original release and better appeal to a modern gaming audience. It's also rumored to be a fairly high-budget game, with many of the people behind the RE 2 and RE 4 remakes reportedly working on it, so there could be a lot for fans to look forward to.

Of course, all of this information is currently unconfirmed. Players should always be cautious about leaks and rumors, but it is hard to deny Dusk Golem's accuracy. Most recently, the leaker repeatedly reassured fans that Resident Evil Requiem would feature Leon Kennedy's return before Capcom finally confirmed it after much denial. With that kind of track record, there could be something to these new rumors. If an announcement is indeed coming in 2026, then fans won't need to wait too long to know for sure, either.
