Resident Evil 7 Bosses
Resident Evil 7: Hardest Bosses, Ranked

These bosses in Resident Evil 7 present the hardest battles for players of the survival game.

Updated on February 16, 2026 by Jessica Orr: The Magnum is the strongest weapon in Resident Evil 7, making short work of otherwise difficult boss fights, or taking out the Molded enemies in one shot. So we've updated the guide below with more pictures showing you exactly where to find the Magnum, plus added more details and pictures explaining how to get Magnum Ammo.

Where to Find the Magnum in Resident Evil 7

The Magnum is located inside the trailer in the Yard area of Resident Evil 7. The trailer can be accessed after completing the three Dog Head puzzle in RE7, in the Main House. Once inside the trailer, you'll find a save point, an item box, and of course, the Magnum.

Unfortunately, you can't just scoop up the Magnum and be on your way, as it's is locked inside a bird cage, next to two other items that are also locked inside cages. To unlock these cages, you need to deposit RE7 Antique Coins inside them, which serve as one of the three main collectibles in the game . It costs 9 Antique Coins to unlock the cage containing the Magnum.

If you didn't pick up the Magnum in the Yard's trailer, you can also use your Antique Coins to unlock it in the Mine Office at the Swamp, near the end of the game.

Throughout the entirety of Resident Evil 7, you can find 18 total Antique Coins on the easy and normal difficulty settings, and 33 coins when playing on Madhouse difficulty. The Magnum is the most expensive cage to unlock, but you can still obtain it early on in the game if you decide to forgo the Stabilizer and Steroids in the other two cages.

We recommend saving the Magnum for the two tough boss fights near the end of the game, as you're better off using Enhanced Handgun Ammo, or the Shotgun in RE7 to dispose of tough Molded enemies.

How to Get Magnum Ammo in Resident Evil 7

Magnum Ammo is found in a few fixed crates dotted about the entire game, including the Old House, Boathouse, Testing Area, and Salt Mines — and you can also get a few rounds from the toilet in the Yard trailer after you find the second Treasure Photo in Resident Evil 7. This Magnum Ammo Treasure Photo is pinned beside the stairs leading up into the room where you enter the Greenhouse from, on your way to fight Marguerite.

You need to find the Magnum Ammo Treasure Photo before the ammo appears in the trailer's toilet.

The smartest way to use the Magnum is to conserve its ammunition for Resident Evil 7's boss battles, or to help thin the herds of tough Molded monsters that can make some tight areas later in the game especially difficult to navigate. That said, the Shotgun is generally more suited to this, as Magnum ammo is so hard to come by.

When not in use, the best place to store the Magnum is in an item box. This way, you can build up your collection of Magnum rounds for use in one of the game's challenging Baker family encounters.
