In chapter 4 of Ada Wong's campaign segment of Resident Evil 4's Separate Ways DLC, players will have to track down the ingredients to craft Luis' suppressant after his lab burns down. The three components, red ink, a golden bottle, and a blue butterfly, will be scattered through the castle area. These ingredients are trapped behind puzzles, each with unique parameters and solutions. Players will need to navigate the castle and solve each puzzle to gather the ingredients and create the medicine Ada and Leon need to stop the virus from spreading through their bodies.
Players will need to visit three unique areas in the castle of Resident Evil 4 to find all the components: the bindery to find the red ink, the treasure room to find the gold bottle, and the collection room to find the blue butterfly. Each component's puzzle solution and specific location can be found below.
The Bindery: Red Ink
For the red ink, players will need to make their way to the bindery in the Separate Ways DLC of Resident Evil 4. After solving the lithographic stone puzzle wall and gaining access to the bindery, head to the center of the room and interact with the press wheel. When the press opens up, there will be a piece of parchment with a clue to finding the suppressant component.
Look around the room at the groups of shields hanging on the wall. Find the group of five that matches the drawing from the clue above the fireplace to the left. Shoot the shields in the order designated on the clue: bottom left, top right, bottom right. The shields will turn to the side as they are shot.
After hitting all three in the correct order a drawer, will unlock behind the player, and the red ink will be available to pick up.
Hall of the Tribunal
After obtaining the red ink, players will need to acquire a crimson lantern to unlock the gate to the treasure room. The lantern can be found at the end of the hall.
Shoot the hanging gongs to match the symbols on the gate to progress forward through each section. The first gate will require the player to ring two snake gongs, and the second gate will require three eagle gongs rung. When players pick up the lantern, the back wall of the room will drop away and reveal a giant drill, which will chase players back through the gates which have closed and locked themselves again.
When exiting with the lantern, the first gate will require the player to ring three eagle gongs, and the second gate will require three fish gongs. Finally, grapple over the last barricade and out of the hall.
Treasure Room: The Golden Bottle
In the treasure room, follow the hallway around until players find the silver bottle. When passing a gate in the hall, Ada will comment that it looks like something may fit in the slot beside the gate. Take the silver bottle and place it in the slot. Be ready for a fight, because the moment the player picks up the silver bottle, the lights will turn off and players have to fight off several suits of armor.
Dispatch the suits of armor, and with the bottle in place, the gates will lower, allowing entry to the deeper sections of the treasure room. Take the silver bottle and head downstairs, placing the bottle into the next gap between the silver and gold gates. The silver gate will lower, granting access to the room where the golden bottle is stored. Again, when this bottle is picked up, several of the suits of armor will come to life, so be ready for a battle.
After all enemies are destroyed, exit the room and swap the silver bottle with the golden bottle. This will lower the golden gate on the right and let players move into the next room segment. In this next area, swap the golden bottle with the silver bottle one last time. This will lower the silver gate and allow the player to exit from the treasure room with the golden bottle in hand.
Collection Room: Blue Butterfly
The final component for the suppressant can be found after players cross the courtyard, and gain access to the castle walls section where Leon had to run from El Gigante in the main story. Follow the castle walls back to the collection room, a room filled with several displays of species of insects and animals.
Players will find the blue butterfly in a case directly inside the room to the right. Read the clues in the notes around the room to discover the combination to the lock, or simply interact with the butterfly case and set the lock to Beetle-Deer Skull-Crocodile. The lock will open and players can obtain the blue butterfly.
Ada and Luis will now have the components to recreate the medicine needed to suppress the parasites in Leon and the others, and players will complete the chapter.
Resident Evil 4 Remake Separate Ways is available now on PC, Playstation, and Xbox.
