Storage is one of the new additions to the remake of Resident Evil 4. Previously, the player had only two choices when it came to extra items: Selling them to the Merchant or discarding them. But in the new game, they have an alternative: Storing excessive weapons and items in the storage.
In the RE4 remake, the way the storing feature work is that it adds to your attaché case capacity. But the catch is that it’s only accessible via typewriters. Think of it as a safe deposit to keep valuables.
How to Move Items to the Storage in RE4 Remake
To move an item to the storage, hover over it in the attaché case, press A (X on PlayStation), and select “Send to Storage.” Or interact with a typewriter, open the Storage tab, and manually store unwanted pieces of equipment.
The first method, storing items from the case, can be done at any time. But the player needs a typewriter for the second. (There’s usually one near the Merchant sites.)
How to Restore Items from the Storage
Restoring equipment is done through typewriters. To take an item out of the storage, interact with a typewriter, open the Storage tab, hover over the desired equipment, and press Confirm (A on Xbox, X on PlayStation). Note that there must be enough space in the case, or else the stored item won’t return to the inventory.
Before restoring items, press LS (L3 on PlayStation) to auto-sort the attaché case. This option ensures that the empty space is used as efficiently as possible.
What Items Can Be Stored in the Storage
Generally, the player can only store weapons, knives, attachments, guns, and first aid sprays. Edibles, herbs, treasures, bullets, resources, and grenades cannot be sent to storage.
The best way to get rid of edibles and bullets is by selling them to the Merchant. Equip the Rhinoceros Beetle charm to double these items’ prices and make more money off them.
What to Do with Items That Can’t Be Stored
The player has two options for handling redundant items that can’t be stored: They will either need to sell them to the Merchant or discard them. The former method is straightforward. Go to the Sell section of the Merchant and cash in on any unused item. For the latter method, discarding items, open the attaché case, move extra items to the box on the right, and close it. This will discard them right away.
The Resident Evil 4 remake is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
