In the Resident Evil 4 remake, farming money means taking advantage of the game mechanics to earn extra Pesetas, the in-game currency. This is often done through force-spawning creatures, combining valuable items, and trading with the Merchant. But the remake offers new ways of making money fast, which are all explained in this guide. Read on to learn the fundamentals of Pesetas-farming and triple Leon’s earnings.

Tips for Farming Money in the Resident Evil 4 Remake

Most money-farming methods from the original RE4 work in the remake:

  • Birds drop Pesetas.
  • Gems combine with treasures.
  • And edibles sell for a reasonable price at the Merchant.

But as an additional mechanic, Leon can now trade Spinels, a scarce new currency, for extra cash. With that in mind, here are all the methods for farming money in the 2023 remake.

1. Exploit Gemstone Bonuses

Attaching a gemstone to a treasure increases its value. But adding them in specific orders (i.e., correct combinations) gives a “gemstone bonus” that can double the price.

The most profitable gem combinations are Quintet and Five-Color. The former includes inlaying five gemstones of the same color with a treasure, while the latter requires five gemstones of different colors on one treasure.

Before selling any treasures, find the best combination in the gemstone bonus table to increase its price.

2. Trade Spinels for Treasures

Flipping tradable treasures is an excellent way of farming money.

The Merchant offers a handful of valuables in exchange for Spinel. These items come with no gemstones, meaning the player can decorate and resell them at a higher price.

3. Hunt and Fish in Chapters 3 & 4

Kill as many crows, vipers, and black basses as possible. These animals either drop money or can be sold at a Merchant site for profit.

Before reaching the no-return points in Chapters 3 and 4, players can farm money by gathering animals. The Quarry and Lake sections are ideal for fishing and hunting because crows and black basses constantly respawn in these areas.

Harpooning floating barrels on the Lake is also a good way of farming money. Each harpooned barrel rewards the player with 500 to 1,000 Pesetas.

4. Craft and Sell Ammo and Herbs

The Merchant pays decent money for herbs and ammunition. Exploit Resources by crafting and selling bullets, triple-green, or red-yellow-green healing potions.

Equip case charms like Rhino Beetles and Leon w/ Shotgun to increase herbs’ and bullets’ resell profit by 130%.

5. Sell Old Weapons

Resell early-game guns to earn money quick. Because the Merchant pays for a weapon’s upgrades, getting rid of no-use guns makes a lot of sense. The W-870 and SR M1903, for example, are two of the weapons players should sell.

6. Sell Unused Keys

Leon holds on to all the keys he uses to open doors. But the player can make a profit from selling the unnecessary ones. (Any one-time-use item like the Hunter’s Lodge Key can be sold to the Merchant.)

Basics of Farming Pesetas in RE4 Remake

Although money drops are RNG-based, treasures and boss-fight rewards never change. Players who want to farm money, therefore, should keep the following rules in mind.

  • Buy the treasure map for each area.

To make more money, invest 3 Spinels in unlocking the treasure map for each area. A treasure map is a tradable item that reveals valuable items’ locations on Leon’s GPS.

  • Keep an eye on the Pta sign on the map.

Moneybags containing 500 Ptas or more are displayed on the map. Loot them before leaving the area.

  • Keep treasures clean.

When dropping treasures, ensure they land on a clean surface; the Merchant pays more for sparkling items.

  • Hold on to the gemstones.

Because gemstones increase treasures’ value, players are better off without selling them individually. They should inlay gems with valuable items, doubling their prices.

  • Get rid of the “For Selling Only” items.

If an object’s description says, “for selling only,” trade it for Pesetas immediately. (Such items’ value never increases.)

  • Declutter the attaché case before farming.

Selling edibles, herbs, and bullets is a sustainable way of money farming in RE4. But players need to minimalize unnecessary items in their cases, so there’s enough room for vendible ones.

  • Mind the no-return points.

There are four dividing sections in the RE4 remake that block specific areas: One is in chapter 4, and the other three are in chapters 5, 12, and 16. Farm as much money as possible in these locations before leaving.

The Resident Evil 4 remake is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
