Airsoft gun manufacturer Tokyo Marui teamed up with Capcom to release a new airsoft weapon inspired by Leon S. Kennedy’s gun in Resident Evil 4. This handgun is well-known by fans of the franchise, as it is the starting weapon of the main character of Resident Evil 4.

The upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake brought Leon Kennedy back into the spotlight, featuring the federal agent as the main character of the survival horror game. The Resident Evil 4 remake keeps the core story of the 2005 game, where Leon is on a mission to save the daughter of the President of the United States, who was captured in a Spanish village ruled by a violent cult worshipping a parasite. As in all Resident Evil games, the hero will have to face various enemies, ranging from infected villagers to large mutated monsters. These fights show Leon firing his weapon of choice, a handgun nicknamed the Silver Ghost.

Capcom announced its collaboration with airsoft gun manufacturer Tokyo Marui to release a replica of the Silver Ghost, Leon’s weapon in Resident Evil 4. This airsoft gun, the SG-09 R, features the main characteristics of Leon’s gun so that Resident Evil fans can purchase their own model of this iconic weapon. The SG-09 R airsoft gun will release in late March 2023 in Japan and cost 32,800 JPY, which amounts to around $243 USD.

The airsoft replica of Leon’s gun in Resident Evil 4 comes with a special magazine called Survive Magazine #18 and two extra magazines. The SG-09 R features the Kendo logo engraved on the right side of the gun just like in Resident Evil 4 and the same color scheme as Leon’s Silver Ghost. The left side of the pistol slide shows the serial number of the weapon to complete the look of this popular fictional weapon inspired by the H&K USP, S&W Sigma, and Ruger P85.

The Resident Evil 4 remake will offer a better look at Leon’s Silver Ghost handgun thanks to its improved graphics. While most of the story is expected to remain the same in the remake, Resident Evil 4 will bring changes to enemy AI and redesigns some of the creatures Leon has to face throughout his adventures. Among the changes brought by the Resident Evil 4 remake will be the removal of the original game's quick time events and the addition of new side quests. Some enemies scrapped from the 2005’s game will appear in the remake, such as the female zealot and an antagonist known as the Minitour.

Resident Evil 4 launches on March 24 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
