Although many Resident Evil fans have currently turned their attention to the upcoming release of the Resident Evil 3 remake, a leak that released online yesterday proved that Capcom is far from resting on its laurels concerning the future of the franchise. Coming forth in a leak from Twitter user AestheticGamer, fans learned that the next entry in the franchise would supposedly be a huge departure for the series, with the leaker also admitting that it was likely to make some fans pretty angry. It seems, however, that AestheticGamer did have a little more to say following this huge bombshell.
Taking to Twitter yesterday evening, Aesthetic Gamer followed up their claims by hinting that more details about the next Resident Evil would be coming next month. Alongside that news, the Twitter user also claims that the information won't be coming from them but from another party, with the mysterious second leaker allegedly working on breaking the story for quite some time.
AestheticGamer's tweets read: "Let me clarify with that last tweet thread, the stuff I'm saying on 2021 RE, I'm sticking to things I know 100% which are unchangeable at this point. I would be more openly blunt about it but I'm aware of someone sharing the full scoop in April, they've done a lot of investigation and cross referenced with a lot of people, including myself." They go on to claim, "I'm not going to be the one breaking the story, whether I was here or not it'd get out there, but I'll expand some on it when the time comes." Evidently, a mysterious second source is prepping a big reveal about what's next for the series, and AestheticGamer would rather work in tandem with their plans than unveil everything right now.
Giving slightly more reasoning for not wanting to show all their cards right away, the Twitter user claims "Also now is RE3 time, & despite the concerns people have I think RE3 deserves attention at this point. I personally am pretty sure I'll enjoy it quite a bit, but I was always more open minded to a further changed reimagining of RE3." Clearly AestheticGamer doesn't want to take the spotlight from Resident Evil 3, which many would no doubt agree is a respectful gesture to the upcoming remake.
As for what this cryptic information could be, it seems there are almost too many insane leaks and rumors surrounding the potential next entry in the Resident Evil series to make an educated guess. Some have pegged the title to have zombies in armor wielding swords, others have claimed the game will feature werewolves, and some have even hinted that Chris Redfield could assume the role of the title's antagonist. It seems April will finally confirm what's in store for Resident Evil going forward.
A new Resident Evil game is rumored to be in development.
