Remnant 2 contains a hidden item that can only be obtained by waiting 90 real-time minutes. The obscure secret was discovered by one inquisitive fan at the tail end of Remnant 2's brief early access period.

Officially released on July 25, the sequel to Remnant: From the Ashes is the latest title from Gunfire Games, a THQ Nordic subsidiary best known as the developer behind the last two installments in the Darksiders franchise. Much like its 2019 predecessor, Remnant 2 is an action RPG set in a post-apocalyptic world full of merciless enemies and randomly generated dungeons. While it wasn't as well received as the original, reviewers still praised Remnant 2 for its challenging gameplay and high replay value stemming from the combination of its procedural dungeon generation and multiple class choices, among other things.

The game is also filled with secrets, some of which are fairly challenging to uncover. This was most recently illustrated by Reddit user Deiser, who discovered a handgun in Losomn that's hidden behind a time-gated platforming section. In order to obtain the weapon, called Meridian, Remnant 2 players have to kill a slime clogging a pipe near the end of the sewers in Tiller's Rest and then wait 90 minutes in real life for the water to rise. This will finally allow them to jump over a couple of wooden platforms to an alcove on the other side of the room where Meridian is located.

While some fans might be dissuaded from trying to obtain the Meridian due to these prerequisites, the 90-minute timer reportedly keeps running even after the player leaves the area. It also doesn't reset upon death, so obtaining the Meridian can be as simple as cleaning the sewers in Tiller's Rest, unclogging the pipe at the end of the area, and then moving on to other Losomn content before returning to pick up the handgun whenever that's convenient.

The discovery of this unique item underlines Gunfire Games' recent claim that there is so much content in Remnant 2 that even playing for 400 hours won't uncover everything. As for the weapon itself, the Meridian is a handgun with a five-round magazine that specializes in area-of-effect damage, not least because it's pre-equipped with the Screamer mod that fires devastating rockets. This makes it highly effective in close-quarters combat and thus a perfect complement to the Challenger class.

The game's secret-filled nature and challenging combat have seemingly resonated well with many a player. The fact that Remnant 2 became a Steam bestseller ahead of launch already hinted as much in late July.

Remnant 2 is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
