Update 6/3: Reddit appears to be working normally again.

Original story follows.

Reddit is down right now, making it inaccessible to its millions of users. Reddit is one of the most popular sites on the Internet, with millions of users using its forums to share their creations with others, ask for help, discuss news, and more. Most of the time, Reddit is reliable and works, but there are rare situations when the site goes down or experiences some other technical issues.

Unfortunately, Reddit is experiencing major problems on Tuesday, June 3 that seem to have started at about 1:30pm CST and persist to the time of this writing. Nearly 30,000 people have visited Down Detector to report issues with Reddit. There is no word on what exactly has caused Reddit's problems on June 3 or when the website's functionality will be restored.

Right now, people seem to be able to access Reddit, but clicking on threads results in a message that says "Server error. We have encountered an error. Please try again later." Sometimes threads will load, but trying to scroll through the comments or scroll down a timeline makes the same error message appear. The good news is that, most of the time, Reddit outage problems are resolved fairly quickly, so hopefully Reddit is back up and running sooner rather than later.

Is Reddit Down Right Now?

  • Reddit is experiencing major issues with many users running into a "Server error" message.

We will update this post as soon as Reddit's functionality is fully restored.
