Rumors are starting to gain a lot of credibility surrounding a remaster for the original Red Dead Redemption, setting the franchise's community into a frenzy. With a title such as this being long-demanded, it would be a fantastic way to carry forward the IP before its next big release, though Rockstar should give its sequel some love as well.

With that being said, Rockstar should ensure that a Red Dead Redemption remaster is the full package to truly satisfy fans. In particular, there is one related feature that needs to be included alongside the remaster to properly herald in the next steps for the beloved series: a next-gen upgrade for Red Dead Redemption 2.

The concept of a remaster for Red Dead Redemption has been popular ever since the launch of its sequel in 2018. With the sequel including many of the same characters and their actors from the original title, many wondered if Rockstar was planning to bring its predecessor to the modern era of gaming technology.

These rumors were only strengthened by Red Dead Redemption 2 including many of the same areas as the original RDR, with many believing that a lot of the groundwork for a remaster had already been completed. A remaster would crucially allow Red Dead Redemption to include sensible nods to the events of RDR2, creating a much better and informed narrative transition between the two titles.

While discourse surrounding this remaster has waned in recent months, new reports coming out of South Korea have reignited the rumors to their maximum capacity. More specifically, Red Dead Redemption recently received a rating classification from the South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee. This would be a pointless act if Rockstar had no intentions to adapt the 2010 title, meaning that something big is very well on the horizon. As some have pointed out, this classification could be related to something like a PC port of the title, yet many are hopeful that it is the first solid indication of a full remaster for Red Dead Redemption.

What Red Dead Redemption Remastered Needs To Include

Frointier RDR2

While Red Dead Redemption remastered would please a lot of fans, it should be coupled with another much-wanted addition to Red Dead Redemption 2. Although RDR2 impressed the industry upon release, it remains that the game was developed for the last generation of consoles. With the title narrowly missing the current generation of hardware which launched in 2020, Red Dead Redemption remastered is presented with a great opportunity.

Red Dead Redemption remastered could easily be bundled with a current-gen upgrade to Red Dead Redemption 2, pushing the graphical fidelity and performance of the title even further. This would tick off two heavily demanded elements of the franchise, giving fans a giant dose of new experiences to explore.

As well as this, a current-gen upgrade for RDR2 alongside a RDR remaster would encourage fans to play through both games once more. With both titles feeling fresh, fans could once again explore the narratives of both games to get the ultimate experience of the franchise's most iconic storyline. Of course, minor changes to RDR remastered such as subtle references to Arthur Morgan would be great, but the release would feel complete if it launched alongside a comprehensive upgrade to its sequel. This would essentially be a final ode to one of Rockstar's most iconic and successful titles, giving the franchise's current storyline a fitting end.

Red Dead Redemption is available on PS3 and Xbox 360.
