With Red Dead Redemption 2 having launched to innumerable positive reviews, it's safe to presume that most gamers will be spending the first weekend of the game's availability exploring what Rockstar has said is the largest and most detailed map it has ever created. With this being the case, fans of the open world action-adventure franchise will likely be singing the title's praises for quite a while, and other IPs are sharing the love as well. As it so happens, The Walking Dead has decided to celebrate RDR2's release with a fun parody of the game's promo art.
As seen in the image below, not only does The Walking Dead's official Twitter account manage to acknowledge Red Dead Redemption 2's launch, but also it slyly manages to promote ninth season of the television show based on zombie apocalypse comic book of the same name. Instead of RDR2's protagonist Arthur Morgan in the still this time, though, it's TWD's lead character Rick Grimes in the flesh, pointing a revolver akin to Morgan in the game's key promo art.
While the above image is surely just a bit of fun being had on behalf of The Walking Dead's social media manager, it's difficult to not have zombies and Red Dead Redemption in the same thought without acknowledging the original game's Undead Nightmare add-on. The zombie-filled DLC was immensely popular with Red Dead Redemption fans, so for the sake of players, one hopes that a similar horror story expansion comes to RDR2 at some point in the future.
Of course, the Halloween season would be an ideal time to put out a piece of DLC akin to Undead Nightmare for Red Dead Redemption 2, but considering the fact that Rockstar literally just released the base game today, it's a safe bet to make that it will be a while before hearing about any official add-ons. Beyond the single player campaign, the only other content confirmed by Rockstar thus far is Red Dead Online, and its beta is coming in November for everyone who owns a copy of RDR2.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
