Everyone knows Red Dead Redemption 2 is filled with little secrets and details, and that’s why RDR2’s take on an open world is so beloved. Many games claim to have environments and worlds that feel lived in, but few can claim that like Rockstar’s western title does. Whether that’s how animals interact in the wild or how Arthur Morgan can communicate with NPCs, it’s all there to be something interesting.

Recently, Redditor Famous_Habit2374 shared a cool, interesting, and small detail about the game’s rabbits. Red Dead Redemption 2’s nature interacts with players in a lot of ways or often against other animals, such as deer approaching Arthur/John, rotting carcasses, and the occasional brawl in the wild. Rabbits are obviously not made for the latter, and they in fact have a major, natural hiding hole they’ll interact with.

As seen above, some startled, chased, or hunted rabbits will take off away from the player, either trying to escape by running or by hiding. Red Dead Redemption 2’s rabbits have the ability to hide in burrowed trees. The animation is pretty quick, so if someone has ever had a rabbit disappear on them, it’s entirely possible they took to these trees.

Obviously, this depends on the exact location in Red Dead Redemption 2 and a rabbit’s proximity to these trees, but it’s one of those cool little details that can impact gameplay without a player even realizing it. After all, players could have their trusty varmint rifle and be on the hunt for a pristine rabbit (to get that perfect rabbit pelt for the Master Hunter 2 challenge), and suddenly it’s gone.

Truly, R ed Dead Redemption 2’s small and hidden details set it apart from other open-world titles. That’s why many cannot wait for the day that Rockstar releases Red Dead Redemption 3. Rockstar has obviously not announced that, but once it finishes with the now-confirmed Grand Theft Auto 6, it’s much more likely to revisit this beloved IP than one from its largely left-behind catalog.
