Red Dead Redemption 2 is a mainstay in gaming conversations, but as a 2018 release, many players may have played all they were going to play by now. Instead, Rockstar fans likely have their eye on the upcoming release of GTA 6. Between Rockstar's pedigree and the overall direction of Vice City, it's easily one of the most anticipated games of all time. There's a lot of time, however, between now and November 2026, meaning gamers still need something to sink their teeth into.

A new playthrough of Red Dead Redemption 2 is certainly a time investment, but at the same time, it doesn't take much to convince anyone to replay it. In fact, Rockstar is doing so as well. In 2022, Red Dead Online received a funeral for players as new content for it began to wind down, but it still has a devoted playerbase as Red Dead 2's online component. Rockstar has officially revealed plans for February 2026 that should invite players to log in once more.

In general, there are new monthly rewards, rotating weekly rewards, discounts, and much more to check out. There's also a community spotlight involved. Indeed, RDO may have gotten a funeral and the focus may be on GTA 6, but Rockstar's more dormant period of RDO still has plenty to offer players month after month.

At the end of the day, any activity is better than no activity for RDO. It's a great attache for vibes alone when replaying Red Dead 2, especially if wanting a more western take on Rockstar's worlds and gameplay ahead of GTA 6's release. At the time, it feels safe to say that all hands at Rockstar will be on it and RDO will quieten down a bit. It's the longest ride into the sunset I've ever seen, but make no mistake, do it now before the sun completely sets.
