  • Players discovered hidden details like Dutch's mother's grave even after hundreds of hours of gameplay.
  • Rockstar's attention to detail in Red Dead Redemption 2 keeps players engaged years after its release.

An eagle-eyed Red Dead Redemption 2 player online has spotted a surprising detail about Dutch van der Linde in the game after over 700 hours of playtime. This particular Red Dead Redemption 2 detail has sparked a few interesting theories among fans.

Dutch van der Linde is one of the best characters in the Red Dead Redemption series. His appearance in the original game showed him after his descent into madness, and the prequel Red Dead Redemption 2 allowed players to experience first-hand how it happened. He's a thoroughly compelling character, and remains a fan-favorite for good reason. It should come as no surprise that a character as complex as Dutch has a few details hidden around the game for players to discover.

Redditor Alaska022 pointed out that players who head to the church in Red Dead Redemption 2's Blackwater can actually find the grave of Dutch's mother, Greta van der Linde, who lived between 1885 and 1881. Her headstone reads, "There was grace in her steps, love in every gesture." Some fans in the thread theorized that this grave could be where Blackwater money was hidden, which would be a nice connection. However, it was also pointed out that some dialogue in the game indicates that while Dutch knows his mother is buried in Blackwater, he had only heard so from an uncle. This means he may not know where the grave is exactly, making it unlikely that the money is buried here.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Player Finds Dutch's Mother's Grave

It seems as though there's no end to the number of small details found in Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar's attention to detail is almost excessive in this particular title, giving players fresh things to discover nearly six years after its initial release. Just recently, another Red Dead Redemption 2 player noticed an immersive detail after 400 hours of playtime. Comparatively, Alaska022 has 700 hours in the game before finding this Dutch detail, but it's interesting to see how even players who have played so much of the game can still have so much to discover.

It certainly doesn't feel as though it has been six years since Red Dead Redemption 2's release. Despite the considerable gap between now and then, a potential sequel still seems to be many years away, especially with Rockstar still focused on developing Grand Theft Auto 6. Some good news emerged recently though, with rumors that Red Dead Redemption fans on PC may finally get to play the original game. It's not Red Dead Redemption 3, but it's something in the meantime.
