A Red Dead Redemption 2 fan has shared a clip of his son dressing up like John Marston and "building a house," similar to the popular character. Marston is one of the more memorable characters from Red Dead Redemption 2, who has starred in two different games in the Wild West-themed series.

Being the protagonist of the original Red Dead Redemption game and a notable part of the Arthur Morgan-led prequel, John Marston holds an important place in the action-adventure franchise. While 2010's Red Dead Redemption follows his story as a hired gun for the government, its successor shows him taking a supporting role as one of the accomplices of the protagonist. Apparently, the antics of John Marston are quite popular among the community, as is shown by a recent viral video.

An eye-catching Reddit post from erikw2 shows a little kid in a John Marston-style outfit, complete with a cowboy hat and boots, pretending to build a house like the Red Dead series character. The video depicts the boy enthusiastically knocking on a post and acting as if he's working on the structure. This show hearkens back to the "A New Jerusalem" mission in Red Dead Redemption 2, whose eventful cutscene shows Marston and his allies building a house from scratch. Interestingly, this particular moment, starring the Red Dead Redemption protagonist, has grown in popularity over time and even prompted a fan to build an identical Minecraft house in the past.

The Marston-inspired video has attracted a lot of engagement on Reddit and people have chimed in with their thoughts on it. Recalling the song that plays during this particular cutscene in the game, a user wrote, "Immediately started playing in my head: Well, let me have a rule and a saw and a board [sic] and I'll cut it." Some other comments underlined the special nature of this father-son moment, saying things like "Now that’s wholesome" and "Raised well, I can see." Another user joked, "if [sic] my kid isn’t like this i [sic] don’t want it."

Thanks to the fanfare around Red Dead Redemption 2, coming across such social media posts is not uncommon. In fact, such instances may only grow in the future as the Wild West shooter game continues to sell well. Recently, it crossed an impressive sales landmark and became one of the best-selling video games in history. With no sequel out yet, the 2018 game is expected to continue delivering gamers their Wild West fix for the foreseeable future.

Even though there's no official news on the next game in the Red Dead franchise, developer Rockstar Games are currently working on another wildly popular franchise, Grand Theft Auto. The long-running series is poised to tell another crime story with GTA 6 coming out in 2025.

After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.
