A Red Dead Redemption 2 player has clipped the moment that Arthur is killed by two kicking horses. Red Dead Redemption 2 fans have noticed several details about horses since the game was released, but these two animals teamed up for a deadly combo.
Before the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games detailed many features and open-world areas. Among these was a gameplay video highlighting the attention to detail given to the horses. Horses play a vital role in the game as players will get around the open world more easily with a mount. Beyond this, there are also lots of cinematics that focus on the Vanderlin Gang on horseback. Because of this, many players have found their ideal horses based on their stats and aesthetics. While capturing a Red Dead Redemption 2 bounty target, a player has been defeated by two horses, including their own.
Reddit user RazkaTaz recently shared a video in which Red Dead Redemption 2's Arthur Morgan is roping a bounty target. Morgan then gets off his horse and approaches the neutralized target. The player then swaps from the lasso to unarmed using the weapon wheel, which causes the vulnerable man to get up. Immediately after standing, the bounty target punches Arthur Morgan which slightly lowers his health. Arthur Morgan then retaliates, but he's too close to the horses as the punch makes contact with them and they both kick in self-defense. Both kicks strike Arthur Morgan simultaneously, causing the character to die.
Part of what causes Arthur Morgan to die in this clip is the proximity to the horses, but the player may have caused this. When they lasso the bounty, the NPC is pulled closer to Morgan, putting him right between the Red Dead Redemption 2 horses. The NPC is able to avoid hitting the horses because of the angle of their attack, but the player hits the snout of both horses. Morgan's punch causes both horses to spin around and kick more quickly than the player is able to dodge. As the screen goes dark, the bounty target becomes visible after their horse pushes them out of the way of the double kick. The clip concludes with the "Dead" screen which pops up after Morgan collapses to the ground.
The realism of Red Dead Redemption 2 has been praised by many players since it was released. These horses may add another realistic component to the Rockstar game. Although it may be rare to catch two horses kicking someone between them, the reaction to being hit in the face is an accurate response. It's currently unclear if Rockstar intended for horses to be so deadly, but RazkaTaz may choose to move out of the way next time they're too close to one.
