A Split Image Of The Most Realistic Tactical Shooters
Best Tactical Shooters With A Focus On Realism

There is a wide variety of shooters out there for players to choose from, and that includes tactical shooters with impressive levels of realism.

Ready or Not is a challenging game, so it’s a wise idea to go into each mission and every encounter with the best assault rifles, which will cause high damage to hostiles, and give players the option between killing them or making them surrender with the sheer might of these weapons.

Updated on April 2, 2024, by Jake Fillery: Whilst Ready or Not hasn't seen any new Assault Rifles come to life in this immersive tactical shooter, the game has seen an influx of difficulty that will require players to bring their a-game if they are to save hostages and ensure that each mission is a success. To do that, players will need the best ARs in Ready or Not, and knowing what each attachment that the weapons bring to the table can really help change the tides against this never-ending war on crime.

14 TPL

Non-Lethal, Lightweight

tpl assault rifle

The TPL has been made a submachine gun as of the recent Ready or Not update.

A compact mag-fed pepperball launcher, it’s overall smaller design makes it ideal for close range engagements.

The first non-lethal assault rifle to feature in Ready or Not is the TPL, which acts like more an SMG than an assault rifle. The weapon itself isn’t terrible, but players might find themselves firing more than a few pepperballs to try and stun and detain their enemies since it has a small design built for intense close-range fights.

13 VKS

Non-Lethal, Great Field of View

vks assault rifle

This modern, mag-fed pepperball gun features full length rails and familiar AR-style controls.

As for the second non-lethal weapon, the VKS isn’t much better, as players will have to fire a few pepperball shots to get enemies to surrender and drop their weapons from the pain of this gun. However, it’s notably better than the TPL since it controls more like an assault rifle, providing more range.

A sturdy and proven battle rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm and modified for close quarter operations.

Ready Or Not Improvements
Ready Or Not: 7 Things VOID Interactive Can Do To Improve The Game

With the game still within its early access phase, there are still areas for improvement VOID Interactive will continue to keep an eye on.

The SA-58 OSW is more of a battle rifle than an assault rifle, and this gives it excellent range and a long barrel that makes it inferior in some close-quarter situations. Despite its sturdiness, the SA-58 OSW is only really good for those encounters at long range, and since those are fairly rare, it’s probably best to leave this ‘lite’ sniper in the back of the arsenal.

11 ARN-180

Close Range, High Recoil

arn-180 assault rifle

A short and compact assault rifle chambered in.300 blackout, suitable for CQB operations.

The ARN-180 is great for situations that call for compact and versatile combat situations, which can be found in many close-quarter combat encounters. The customization options allow for players to manage power and stealth, but the high recoil can be somewhat concerning, especially with its short range.

10 F90

CQB Rifle With Range

f90 assault rifle

A bullpup rifle made in Australia, it’s modular design and compact form makes it shine in adaptability and maneuverability thus making it ideal for close quarters combat while also retaining a longer barrel.

Another close-quarter combat rifle comes to Ready or Not with the F90, a weapon that isn’t the best, but it is certainly not the worst. It’s seen as adaptable thanks to its attachment options, and the longer barrel means that players will have a better time with medium-range engagements rather than just whatever is directly in front of them.

9 ARWC

Reliable & Robust

arwc assault rifle

CQB-oriented rifle.

Designed for close-quarter combat, the ARWC has a shorter barrel, but that comes at an advantage to the weapon. Players will have a high chance of incapacitating enemies, and an even higher chance of taking them out for good in fewer shots than normal thanks to its robust design, making it a reliable choice indeed.

The Hardest FPS Games Ever Made, Ranked

First-person shooters are a tough genre to get into if someone has never played them before. Some get so hard that they are nearly impossible.

The SR-16 is not the fastest-firing assault rifle, but the longer barrel and the ability to combat ceramic and steel plates with ease make it a great choice to use, and of the best ARs in Ready or Not, especially since it's lightweight, meaning players will have better movement.

5 MCX

Customizable & Modern

mcx assault rifle

Highly popular with modern police tactical units all over the world, the MCX platform is slowly taking over the AR15 in terms of modularity, performance, and customization.

The MCX is a modern choice, especially in terms of its options for customization. There's a reason that this weapon is taking over the popular AR15, and that comes from its efficient tactical performance, which often comes high, leaving the weapon at an advantage compared to other less-modern choices.
