Summary
- Concord's Platinum trophy is set to be one of the rarest due to the game's shutdown.
- Only a small percentage of players unlocked the Platinum before the servers went offline.
- This may change if Concord returns as a free-to-play game with the same trophy list.
The Platinum trophy for the now-defunct Concord may very well become one of the rarest Platinums of all time. Concord was released in late August, and unfortunately for anyone that enjoyed the hero-shooter game, it's already dead. Sony pulled the plug on Concord just two weeks after its release thanks to a complete lack of interest from the community at large.
Concord sales were reportedly only around 25,000 units, which is abysmal for a first-party game, to say the least. It didn't even manage to draw 700 concurrent players on Steam, and it seems its PS5 population wasn't much bigger. The decision was made to take Concord offline, triggering a mad-dash for trophy hunters wanting to unlock the game's Platinum trophy before it was lost to the void.
Some Concord Owners Are Having Trouble Getting Refunds
A small subset of Concord owners has reportedly encountered some difficulties in trying to get the refund that PlayStation promised.
Concord players tried all kinds of things to unlock the Platinum, with some resorting to flinging themselves off the maps to grind for XP so they could hit level 100 and unlock the Platinum. Now that Concord is officially offline, it seems as though the game's Platinum trophy will become one of the rarest in PlayStation history. Only 0.2% of Concord players managed to unlock the Platinum trophy before the servers were taken offline, and when one considers how small the game's player base was to begin with, it's clear that hardly anyone has the Plat.
How Many People Have Concord's Platinum Trophy?
- 0.2% of Concord players unlocked the game's Platinum trophy
Now, what could prevent Concord's Platinum from being one of the rarest ever is if the live-service hero-shooter somehow mounts a comeback. In the message announcing Concord's closure, Firewalk indicated that options were being explored in regard to the game's future. It's entirely possible that Concord will come back as a free-to-play game at some point down the road. If this occurs, and it keeps the same trophy list, then there's a chance that a lot more PlayStation gamers will have the opportunity to unlock this particular Platinum trophy.
However, it's perhaps more likely that Concord will never return. Concord's failure has been catastrophic, with this level of rejection from the gaming community virtually unprecedented. Concord may need a complete re-brand if it ever hopes to return, and that translates into sinking more money into a game that has already been a massive commercial flop. This makes future projects like Secret Level's Concord episode a little awkward, but it may ultimately be the choice Sony makes. Time will tell, but for now, Concord remains dead, and its Platinum trophy remains unobtainable.
