Summary
- Toggle the Quaffle focus button for better gameplay.
- Prioritize Quaffle Handling skills over Teamwork or Tackling.
- Switch between Chasers manually to optimize positioning and gameplay.
The role of Chaser is arguably the most important to master in Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, as players always have the option to switch to their Chaser. For example, a player queuing as Keeper is actually queuing as Keeper and Chaser.
All National Teams in Quidditch Champions (& How to Unlock Them)
There are 16 national teams in Quidditch Champions, and Harry Potter fans won't be happy about two that are missing.
Chasers are tasked with tackling the Quaffle from the opposing team and taking it up the end of the pitch by passing and dodging to hopefully score by putting it through one of the three hoops. Doing so will earn their team 10 points, and with games ending at 100 points, every goal counts. With that in mind, these Chaser tips for Quidditch Champions should help players win more games and put them on par with the best Quidditch players in Harry Potter.
1 Enable Toggle For The Focus On Quaffle Button
This Can Make It Easier To Always Know Where The Quaffle Is
A key tip for Chasers in Quidditch Champions is to always know where the Quaffle is. To do so, players will need to get used to using the Right Bumper, F, or Y/Triangle to focus on the Quaffle, depending on their controls. One option that can make this easier, is to enable this as a toggle in the controller settings, rather than having to hold the button down constantly.
This can be useful for both offense and defense, as well as when the Quaffle is up in the air or down on the floor. There will also be times when, for ease of flying, players won't want their camera focused on the Quaffle. It all comes down to getting used to turning it on and off when needed. This concept will be familiar to players of Rocket League.
2 Skills To Take As A Chaser In Quidditch Champions
Faster Movement With The Quaffle Is Key For Scoring
Example Build For Chasers
- Quaffle Handling: 5/6
- Teamwork: 3/6
- Tackling: 2/6
Each role in Quidditch Champions has its own set of skills, split into 3 sets of 6 skills. Players can assign 10 points to 18 of these skills, so knowing which Chaser skills are best is key to finding success. Skill Points are initially unlocked by leveling up, which thankfully just means playing more games.
For Chasers, the Quaffle Handling line of skills is arguably the best, especially Quaffle Carry Speed I, II, & III, which together significantly reduce the speed penalty for carrying the Quaffle. The One-Timer skill at the end can also be good, but isn't necessary. Taking the first two or three points in Teamwork can be good as this makes locking on for passes easier. Getting the second skill of Tackling is also one to aim for as it increases the radius of tackles, making them much easier.
3 Switch Between Chasers In Offline Mode
Other Chasers Will Be In Better Positions & It's Best To Control Them Than Let The AI
When playing the Quidditch Champions Campaign or Exhibition Games offline, players can switch between any team member at any time. When Chasers make a pass, this can happen automatically, as control will switch when the Quaffle is caught. However, at other times, it can be good to switch manually. To do so, simply look at the desired Chaser while playing as another, and press Up on the D-Pad or Q.
10 Crazy Things You Didn't Know About The Harry Potter Quidditch Video Game
Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup put gamers in the world of Quidditch at Hogwarts & professionally. Here are 10 unknown facts about the game.
One time to do this when playing defense and another Chaser is down the field in a much better position. Although the AI will try to defend, it's best not to trust them, and switch to their character instead. Offensively, players could switch to another Chaser when their boost is depleted. They would then get in an advanced position down the field with their new Chaser, before calling for a pass. There are plenty of other occasions when it makes sense to swap, and it's all about getting out of the mindset of sticking to only one Chaser at a time.
4 Switch To Another Role After Scoring
There Is A Delay Before The Quaffle Comes Back Into Play
In Quidditch Champions, players have control of two roles in multiplayer games and the entire team in offline games. Therefore, one tip for Chasers is to switch roles temporarily, immediately after scoring. It takes quite a number of seconds for the Quaffle to come back into play, and even then, the Keeper still has to launch it down the pitch. AI Keepers in particular take ages to do so.
Therefore, instead of wasting time flying around as a Chaser, switch to being a Beater or Seeker. As a Beater, players can try to hit the opposing Seeker in these moments of Quaffle downtime. Even switching to the Keeper momentarily can be a good call, as they can lay down the Playcaller Rings for their Seeker. This tactic also applies when the opposing team scores. Press Down on the D-Pad or R to change positions.
5 Master The Shovel Pass
This Is The Fastest Way To Move The Quaffle Around
While Chasers can pass in the direction they are looking using the Right Trigger, Right Mouse, or A/Cross (X), these passes are generally slow, and not great for closing in on the hoops. Instead, Chasers will want to master the Shovel Pass, which essentially offloads the Quaffle to either side at much greater speeds, allowing for an uninterrupted attack on goal.
The default controls for the Shovel Pass are Y/Triangle and the Right Stick or the Mouse and E. For alternative controls, it is the Left Stick and Left Bumper together. However, the thing players need to get used to is looking out for the blue arrows on the side which represent the presence of a teammate. If players try to Shovel Pass when this is not the case, they will launch the Quaffle into thin air, allowing the opposition to regain possession. It can feel a bit clunky at first, and players may even end up firing the Quaffle behind them, but once mastered, this is a skill that will result in more Quidditch Cup wins.
6 Use Evade To Cancel Charged-Up Passes & Shots
This Is The Only Way To Cancel Unwanted Passes & Shots
Charging up passes and shots is key for success as a Chaser in Quidditch Champions, but sometimes players will change their mind after charging up. In these cases where there is no longer a teammate to pass to or the hoops are out of shot, players will want to cancel their action.
The Best Harry Potter Games Of All Time
Even though Harry Potter games tend to be extremely hit-or-miss, a few releases capture the magic of the books, movies, and the overall universe.
Thankfully, even if it is not an intended feature, it is possible to cancel charged-up passes and shots by using the Evade button, which is Left Bumper or Space by default, and B/Circle for the alternative controls. This has the added bonus of surprising the opposition, and the combo could even be performed on purpose.
7 Self Pass & Fly Onto It To Kick It Towards The Hoops With The One-Timer Skill
This Is A Great Way To Surprise The Keeper
The One-Timer skill is the 6th skill in the Quaffle Handling line for Chasers, and it allows chasers to power up a kick when they are about to receive the Quaffle. One advanced use of this skill is to fly low to the ground from around the halfway line, pass forward into the air, and then boost toward it and perform a huge kick towards the hoops.
If done correctly, this will completely surprise most keepers who aren't expecting a shot from so far away, and a goal is a serious possibility. However, this is by no means an easy skill and players will need to practice it by themselves in the Open Practice mode.
